“Best Inn for a Romantic Getaway”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

The Point Pleasant Inn is the epitome of understated luxury and elegance wrapped into a small inn. As soon as you walk through the door, you feel as though you've entered into a private home. Actually, you are - the owner lives there.

We stayed in the Bristol Harbour Room, which was massive and had a private patio overlooking the ocean. The bed was the most comfortable I've slept on!

The property is 25 manicured acres that includes a pristine swimming pool, tennis court, sunken gardens, and breathtaking views.

The chef makes the most incredible breakfasts, is joy personified, and the owner is truly delightful.

This inn is off the beaten path, a true gem, tucked away. This should be your only destination when traveling to RI! Perfection!

We stayed here for our mini-moon in July 2012 and could not be happier with the experience! We arrived to a warm greeting and a pleasant surprise, as we were upgraded to the honeymoon suite and a bottle of chilled champagne waiting for us. The setting is glorious and private and well exceeded our expectations. Every detail about the home, grounds and service is well thought out and immaculate. It is a real treat to stay in a place where hospitality is taken seriously and every human effort is made to ensure that you want for naught: the details are too many to list, but here are a few: a stocked self service snack and drink area, espresso and tea station, open bar, robes and personal toiletries, sauna, pool table, gym, bikes, games, books, pool, jacuzzi, amazing gourmet breakfast, huge comfortable room with quality bed and linens, views, views, views from many common rooms, nooks, sitting areas both inside and out, etc, etc.
We stayed here right after staying at the Mandarin Oriental NYC (which costs three times more and delivers three times less) and the difference couldn't have been more glaring. We will definitely be back!!

My wife and I stayed two days at the PPI recently. What a treat. The house was built as a personal residence (mansion) and has spacious elegantly appointed rooms. The views of Bristol harbor and the houses grounds are beatiful. The property is kept in immaculate condition. We knew that we were in for a special treat as we arrived and were greeted by six wild turkeys and four white tailed deer grazing on the front lawn. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the owner, Gunter, and his son, Tim, and in fact the whole staff made us feel at home. The only meal served is breakfast but it is a very nice buffet. If you are looking for a great place to unwind this is it.

My fiance and I stayed at Point Pleasant Inn this past weekend for Newport's America's Cup races. Every part of our stay at Point Pleasant Inn was delightful. From my inquiries on the phone, to checking into our room at 10:00pm at night on Friday, our first taste of this Inn remained wonderfully pleasant.

I would suggest bringing or using your GPS device on your smart phone, as this gem is well hidden off the beaten path. Once you are there and settled in, there is really very little to care about. In fact, for our experience (the house was at full occupancy when we stayed) you will barely see anyone at all unless around meal time. The beach cruiser bikes are something I cannot wait to enjoy on my next stay! The paved road into town runs along the bay and is just a 10 minuet ride from a nice little cafe.

The beds are amazing. Really, I cannot think of a single thing about this Inn that is not truly spectacular. Will be coming back before summer is out!

This summer we used Point Pleasant for our wedding in September. We had 150 guests and had the entire inn to ourselves. We chose this location because it is not a "wedding factory" type location like most common well known venues are in Rhode Island. It is still a well kept secret in Bristol. The guests that we had staying at the inn had nothing but wonderful things to say about the hospitality and I must say we did not want to leave the honeymoon suite after our weekend wedding had come to an end. Tim was very helpful in working with all of our vendors providing services to complete our wedding reception. Being that 60% of our guest were from New York many who were not able to stay at the inn as well as those who did have said they look forward to next summer and booking at point pleasant for a romantic weekend. From the pictures we have seen so far, this is a fantasic venue to get great pictures no matter what the weather may be, and our guests were very impressed with the wedding as a whole.... Our professional pictures which include much better photos of the venue are not yet ready but below are a couple we had from friends
