Bristol House Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #2 of 5 Bristol B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 30, 2012

My husband and I just completed our second stay at Kathleen's B&B. It was every bit as special as our first stay there. The first B (bed) is as welcoming as Kathleen is, both in appearance and comfort. The second B (breakfast) is something you eagerly anticipate--for us, it was even better than the dinners at the very good restaurants she recommended in Bristol. This return visit was with two other friends and the warm living room and back porch were perfect settings to relax, chat and catch up. Kathleen is a natural innkeeper, cheerfully making you feel like you are very welcome in her lovely starfish-themed home.

Had the pleasure of staying at this delightful B&B in Aug ’11, a day after Irene came through. First and foremost, you cannot hope for a better host—Kathleen is a natural, extremely accommodating, cheerful, and her cooking skills are fantastic. The property is on a cute residential street and very much feels like a home. Tastefully decorated, non-stuffy, very well kept, with thoughtful details throughout. Bristol is quintessential New England in every way. For food lovers, it would be a crime to not plan a meal at Persimmon on State St.

Room Tip: The Harbor Room is ideal for a couple, although I did wish the assigned bathroom was on the same flo...

Kathleen (The Owner/Innkeeper) was fantastic. The food and accomodations were great and the property was very well maintained. I highly recommend a stay at The Bristol House. There was such a personal touch to everything at The Bristol House from the home made cookies to the phenomenal breakfast. I won't even think of staying anywhere else in the Bristol area.

My wife and I spent two nights here while our son and his friend went to a basketball camp at Roger Williams U down the road. It's perfectly accessible to the East Bay bike path which by itself warrants a stay here. But Kathleen the innkeeper made it much more worthwhile. She's great company, an extremely helpful and knowledgeable host, and the breakfasts are terrific. Do NOT under any circumstances miss the evening complimentary chocolate-chip cookies.

The inn was exceptionally clean, and there's a nice patio and garden off the back of the house for lolling and snoozing. One minor drawback/surprise -- the bathroom was off the hall rather than accessible directly from our room, but Kathleen has plans to rectify this nit in the future. This explains my 4 for the room rather than a 5. We would certainly go back, and I can't imagine anyone regretting a stay here!

The Bristol House Bed & Breakfast is the absolute perfect place to stay. The innkeeper has paid such special attention to detail and makes everything so easy that you never want to think of staying anywhere else in the area! We loved the location because, as close as it is to Newport (which is where our activities were centered that weekend), it does not have that awful "commercial" feel. You can be in Newport in 30 minutes and yet when you return to the B&B you are nestled in a cozy neighborhood and can fully relax after your day on the water, in the mansions or at the beach. It is quiet, which is something we always look for, and yet you can be in downtown Bristol in 5 minutes if a "scene" is more your style. Overall it was fabuloius and we will go back! (And the homemade breakfasts are superb - and added bonus!!)

Room Tip: The Harbor Room is the nicest.

I stayed here during an overnight orientation for my son at RWU. The accommodations were very charming and immaculate. I thoroughly enjoyed my delicious breakfast and Kathleen's company. She is so nice! I will be back- wish there was room for Parents' Weekend!

My 16 year old daughter and I just spent a relaxing two days at Bristol House. It was the perfect home base to visit some colleges in Rhode Island. Kathleen was so welcoming and the food was wonderful. One of our favorite spots was the backyard where we ate delicious breakfasts and relaxed in the hammock and read. This was my daughters first bed abd breakfast and she said she didn't think any other would compare to how wonderful a place Bristol House is. I am hoping that she chooses to go to college in Rhode Island so we can come back!
