“Thai Restaurant tucked away”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012

What a find! Really good, especially for a lunch when they have specials.

First, the directions from the other reviews are correct, but it may be helpful to add that it is behind the Ace hardware store (side of CVS). The sign is a bit worn.

I had basil leaf (chicken) and was hot (but not thai hot...I think you need to ask). My wife had a vegatable dish, and very tasty. The lunch special gets you a salad and an appetizer. Try the Thai Tea (sweet!).

Service was great, and the atmosphere is charming.

“Spectacular restaurant in a not-so-easy-to-find place...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2012

The restaurant's location / address is very misleading, and it is not easily visible from the road. We drove by the street it is on several times (using an iPhone for directions - not the best thing) until I managed to spot the small signboard with the name on it (no exterior building sign.) At night (when we went) made matters worse.

That's all the bad things. Really.

To simply state that this is a spectacular Thai restaurant is a gross understatement. The food is five - star; the service likewise.

The Chicken coconut galanga soup (appetizer) is on the exceptional level. At only $4, it's a steal. Chicken, in coconut milk with galanga (akin to mild ginger) blended beautifully with cilantro and other ingredients to form a great start.

I then had the Garlic choy with duck. With the accompanied steaming hot brown rice, it was heavenly. My friend had the pad thai, and it was excellent.

Helpful hint: although it is exce3llent, don't waste your meal on the pad thai. Try something different; if their other meals are as good as this, why go with the normal standby? Be adventurous.

Total bill with appetizers (no drinks) came up to just under $40. Excellent value. They are open until 10:30 on weekends, and served us walking in at 9:30. Excellent ambience; cannot say enough good things about this place.

“Great Asian food in Barrington”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2012

Tong-D is a bit of a gem tucked away from the main strip behind the CVS in downtown Barrington. The ambience and quality of food will surely suprise you. There really isn't another Asian restaraunt that compares unless you want to head into Providence for MuMu's.

The service is excellent, the prices are very reasonable and it's a great easy stop in Barrington for a quick dinner.

I love the duck/baby bok-choy and the Tai Iced Tea. Yum.
