The pros: nice helpful staff. Convenient location. Comfortable beds. Free breakfast if you want to take it up to your room, or wait for a table. We didn't.
The cons: everything else.
The hotel is difficult to access from the freeway, with the only entrance/exit to the parking lot on the on/off ramp to another highway. The hotel building is very old. The ceiling height in the hallways is 7 ft. I am sure this must meet the building codes, but my son is 6'9" and barely cleared the overhead lighting. We were in Reading for 2 days for a basketball tournament at Albright U and chose the Days Inn because of its high guest ratings. I am at a loss as to how the hotel gets these ratings. I have stayed in "basic" hotels before and this aged facility does not deserve these ratings, even as a basic hotel.
I booked my room a month in advance with a non refundable rate. My cc was charged early on the morning of our arrival; we arrived approximately 9:00 p.m. due to weather and traffic. We were given a room adjacent to the elevator on the 2nd floor. The room had not been renovated. Thin indoor-outdoor carpeting, shabby furniture and bedding, a hanging bar for clothing, 1960's sink and vanity right inside the door. All of the rooms have the sink next to the door, with the shower and toilet in a small separate bathroom. There is no privacy; you cannot get ready in the morning without disturbing the other members of your family. I requested another room and was given a room on the 4th floor, away from the elevator.
This room had been "renovated". The vanity inside the door had a granite top and the sink had a new faucet. The carpeting looked newer, but was still thin, and had exposed staples randomly attached to the carpet in front of the clothes hanging area! in the middle of the floor. We had to be careful not to injury our feet by accidentally dragging them over the staples. The hat of a previous guest had slipped between the refrigerator and the wall and was is plain sight. The heating/ac unit for each room is located at the window--the old fashioned type where you turn the dials for heat or fan or air and chugged loudly when used.
There were black particles floating in the water from the faucet, even after allowing it to run. Overall cleanliness of the room/bathroom was poor. Bathroom doorknobs were dirty. If I had not prepaid for this hotel, I would have left to find another one the first night.
This is a Days Inn Hotel run by an independent franchisee I believe. The Days Inn corporation needs to do an onsite review of this facility.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are sorry to hear you were not satisfied with our hotel. Please know your feedback is extremely valuable to us and that your comments and issues will be addressed. It is our hope that you will give us another opportunity to serve you.
