We had dinner at the Wyalusing Hotel a few years ago, and it was great, so we decided to go there overnight - maybe 2 nights. Well, to make a long story short... We didn't stay the 2nd night! Based on the reviews (and past experience), we weren't expecting fine dining or extravagant accommodations. We were expecting a nice, clean room, good food and friendly people. We found NONE of that. Check-in: A rude bartender gave us a key and remote control for the TV and REALLY poor instructions to find our room. (Hint: You have to go outside and come in another door, which I’m thinking any vagrant off the street can come in ALL NIGHT LONG... It’s not locked, and there’s a bathroom at the top of the stairs.) If you like FeBreeze & air fresheners, you’ll like this place. The thing that really gets to me, is their website ”the perfect spot for a weekend getaway”, and the fact that the person who took the reservations told my husband this was “a REALLY nice room”. I don’t know what went on outside of our room ALL NIGHT LONG. I didn’t get any sleep with the constant LOUD traffic from 11:30 to 4:00 though. The wallpaper was falling off the walls (in the parts that weren’t TORN off that is). There was no hot water without running it for 10 minutes. We didn’t shower there. It was moldy. The dinner the night before was terrible (overcooked, to be polite), as well. We were trying to make the best of it, but this place is not what it claims to be - or once was. We won’t be back.

We have always loved this neck of the woods. With family in town, we have used the Wyalusing Hotel often over the past 30 years. While it does not seem to be 'updated' in creature comforts, I can assure you that you will not find a friendlier or cleaner stop in the Endless Mountain region!
The meals are dependable and mid range in price. There is significant history to take in so plan to visit the Museum and Library, both just next to the Presbyterian Church across the street.
The views are breathtaking along Route 6 and the lookout points are worth the stop. You too will feel we are just behind the Native American Indians. (note the names all around: Towanda, Susquehanna, Meshoppen, Black Walnut, and Tonkhannock)

We went up to the Endless Mountains to see family, and decided to give this place a shot. We've stayed at some of the B and Bs in the area, and they were pretty mediocre, and the chain hotels are a little grungy and attract some party-hearty clienteles that preclude peace and quiet. So, for $75 we decided on the Wyalusing Hotel.

First, I should tell you what this place is NOT:
It is not fancy, it is not a plastic chain where you will be numbed comfortably by the corporate sameness. It is not a place to get spa treatments, or to see-and-be-seen. It is not a place that Stewart would choose, and it is not hotel where holier-than-thou Whole Foods-style patrons will be cossetted and pampered.

This is what it IS:
An unpretentious historic, gorgeous little building on the Main Street of Myalusing, a town that saw its best days in the 1800s, but still keeps a small-town charm. The hotel is a combination restaurant, with a woodsy bar in the back. , and hotel with about 10 rooms. It is all very local and homey.

We checked in at the bar in back, and got a clean, unspectacular room. The decor could be reconsidered, but they did have plants in the room, a nice touch.

The bed was very comfortable, and it was a double, with a queen sofabed.

The AC was a little rackety. The shower was hot and the lighting was good. We enjoyed the continental breakfast (the restaurant does not serve a full breakfast) on the balcony overlooking the quiet Main Street. For the price, this is a great stay.

The web site is www.wyalusinghotel.com I wish them luck and hope this helps.
