We live about a mile from this place, and always recommend it to friends/acquaintances who may be in the area. Its kid of like our own little "Cheers." Everyone knows almost everyone who walks in - when a door opens, heads to turn to see who is entering. Food is above average for bar food, and they offer numerous specials depending on the night. Wing Night is Wednesday, Pasta Night is Tuesday, Thursday is Mexican and during the summer, Monday is Clambake Monday. The locals know to show up on Saturday night for the Baked Chicken Dinner, and on Sunday for the Chicken Pot Pie that everyone raves about. their are bar specials on Sundays during football season, and TV's can be viewed from anywhere. Two dining rooms are offered - one in the bar area, and for those with families who don't appreciate being near the bar, there is a separate dining room. Don't see it on the menu, or need it tweeked? Just ask. And the place is immaculate! Not your typical dark sports bar.
This place has been around for over 50 years, and is now run by the original owner's triplet sons, and thriving. They are great supporters of the local schools and sports organizations, and the townspeople like to return the favor by supporting them. Just don't plan to stay out until 1 or 2 am - like the rest of the regulars who used to frequent the place in their 20's and 30's, we're all getting older, and can't party as hardy as we used to, but if you're there, they won't throw you out! if you're ever in the Slate Belt, you can't leave without a visit to Detzi's.
