I stayed here many times i cant say enough how the place is changing so well i remember my first time(1-5-2009) it was off to a bad start but the gm took care of my problem as it was nor the hotels fault or mine but( my company fault) even thoe the gm went above my expecttations the staff is a great bunch of people all dept.i come incontact with all of them. they treated me as if im a guest in there own home one even said to me were all family here,i thought that was great and felt like i was at home this might be an old hotel with some needs but its being taken care of i come here often and look for the new changes so to all who read my post dont me quick to judge till you had a chace to fully see this place for what it is yes some of the rooms are small but not manyi say most of the rooms are verry nice
all in all this hotel offers one thing in the bussiness you probly never get in any hotel and thats the feeling from the employes of making you feel at home great time and good food thanks team genetti

During the past week, we were in Williamsport on 2 separate occasions, unfortunately for the passing of a family member. On the first occasion our hotel room was adequate and had some old world charm with lovely wood moldings and a granite surround for the bathtub. BUT ... the hotel is older and it seems like any remodeling has not included a retrofit to modern proportions. We had the tiniest room I've ever stayed in ... with barely a narrow aisle around our bed on all sides. When we brought in the luggage cart, we had to block one of the aisles and had to crawl across the bed to put things in their proper place. The room was not large enough to accomodate a dresser and the closet was so shallow that normal dry cleaner wire hangers could not sit squarely on the pole if you wanted to close the closet door (a necessity to get out of the room). There just wasn't anyplace to put your clothes or even to work from your luggage. Our pretty view of the city was blocked by something in the window (not remembering what ... perhaps an air conditioner?) The bathroom was so small that it could not accomodate a sink (that was in the room with the bed) and the toilet was so close to the little night table in the bathroom that my 6'2" husband just didn't 'fit'. The towels were thin, scratchy, and midget sized. And, it was one apiece, no extra linens here. I'm usually fine with a small hotel room (after all, we're usually just sleeping there) but, this one was ridiculous, especially for the price.
Breakfast buffet was included in the price of the room. While there was a very wide choice of both hot and cold items (eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, creamed beef, hash, french toast, etc.) the service staff (while pleasant) rarely checked the chafing dishes so many items were not available as you were going through the line and it was only when pointed out to them that they notified the kitchen ... causing a substantial delay while the kitchen did the necessary prep work.
The hotel, and in fact the whole city, is largely populated by energy industry workers who seem to be fracking somewhere north of the city. Our experience was that they were very quiet and polite but it does create a very male environment. Breakfast on a Wednesday had me being the only woman in a population of about 40 - 50 men ... not problematic but different from the usual hotel experience. Most workers change out of their boots at the hotel entrance but occasionally someone doesn't and there is a trail of mud through the carpeting. You'll find that few of the booking sites carry available rooms in Williamsport due to this current guaranteed trade but most hotels do have some available rooms ... you just need to do some old fashioned dialing and inquiring.
On the positive side, the staff at the hotel was exceptionally accomodating. As our relative's condition changed, we were continually changing arrangements ... first extending our stay and then needing to leave with little notice, while requesting a 2:00 checkout without any additional charge. The staff could not have been more accomodating and pleasant and, at such a difficult time, their pleasant cooperation was appreciated.
When we returned for our relative's services, we upgraded our room to a king suite with a pull out bed. It was well worth the $30 upgrade differential. Both rooms were substantially larger, we had a little kitchenette area, a nice size sitting/TV room, a regularly sized bedroom with a dressing/sink area and toilet/tub area.
We had told them in advance that we'd have a 3rd person with us who would be using the pull-out bed. And, prior to arriving, I called to ensure that the bed was made up which they said they would handle. When we arrived, we pulled out the bed and there were dirty sheets on it. I called the front desk and immediately someone came up and remade the bed. We had to call again shortly thereafter for a 3rd set of towels and pillows for this additinal bed.
We had scheduled a luncheon at the hotel after the services for about 35 guests. It was standard, therefore not exceptional, catering fare. But, I must say, that it was the absolutely worst chicken gravy that I've had in my life ... it tasted like flour with water and yellow food coloring. Yuch.
I feel that I should end by again complimenting the staff ... they were (to a person) pleasant and accomodating ... but, it's just not enough to make up for the fundamental problems at this hotel where prices are too high and delivery of basic services is too low.

Room Tip: If staying at the Genetti, it's definitely worth the upgrade to one of their suites. The extra...

Billing itself as a classic, 1930s property, the Hotel Genetti uses enticing adjectives like "elegant" and "legendary" to describe itself on numerous billboards in and around Williamsport and then completely fails to deliver. Posters touting a Mardi Gras party sponsored by Bud Light were Scotch-taped everywhere, including the "elegant" lobby. A bad sign. The lobby was a mess, with tables and chairs stacked everywhere, and the carpet needed vacuuming so badly it actually crunched under our feet. The room was nice, but only at a glance. Upon closer inspection the couch was severely stained -- by what, I don't want to know -- and the bathroom was like a closet with plumbing. The hotel looked like it had been restored in the 1980s and has been coasting into decrepitude ever since. Management is the only difference between a grand 1930s property that stays grand and a grand 1930s property that becomes a fleabag haunted by its own ghosts. Hotel Genetti is at this tipping point and shows no signs of moving in the right direction. The staff, however, were wonderful. They know.

First of all let me say that this is one of the worst hotels that I've ever stayed in. The room was small and dirty with lumpy beds and a disgusting bathroom. The shower didnt get hot, the toilet was stained and there was mold growing on the walls and unknown stains in the floor. The parking lot is difficult to get into as is the hotel itself. If I have a choice I will not be staying there again!!!

Room Tip: Wear shoes in the room.

We were here on business, just for 1 night. We booked a suite and it was fantastic with amazing views (8th floor). It had a kitchen area that was fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, etc. The beds were comfy, two flat screen TVs, and very clean. The staff were friendly and welcoming, not to mention the prices are fantastic for the area. Be sure to check out the restaurant downstairs, it has a great selection of beers on tap and excellent food. We will be sure to stay here again if we are back in the area!

I stayed at the Genetti Lycoming recently and had a very pleasant experience. The staff was both helpful and friendly, and the room was clean and nicely decorated. The hallway has many pictures of events that were held there in the past. Nice historical touch. Nice place to stay.

Room Tip: My 9th floor room was quiet with a view of Fourth Street.

Welcoming, clean, older hotel makes for a comfortable stay. Rooms are updated, and current, but they have done a nice job of preserving a bit of history. Great place to stay and catch a show at the neighboring Community Arts Center. Will stay again!
