Seven of us went to Riepstines on a Thursday evening at 6:00. There was also a four top in the small dining room. The server was nice and we ordered our beer off of the large menu of brewed beers. Most of the beers are dark, heavy, strong, or lagers. Since I drink LaBatts or Blue Moon, I opted for a "lighter" beer the waitress recommended and it was like an Amstelle, so I liked it.
The menu is very limited.
A half dozen appetizers and sandwiches, which run from $10.95 to $13.95 for a sandwich and homemade chips. (seasoned with sea salt). I paid $11.95 for a BBQ chicken with onion sticks and prov cheese. Served on a pretzel roll with the homemade chips. It was good, nothing special. The rub is it took almost an hour and a half after we ordered until we got our sandwiches, At the four top next to us three were done eating and the 4th person just got their burger....that took well over an hour also.
Two chicken sandwiches and four beers, the tab was $49 and change. Not counting a tip.
My beef is how long you have to wait to get your dinner.....is that to get you to drink more beer? Most places that brew their own beer also charge less for their beer when patronizing their own establishment. Not Riepstine's Pub, they raised their beer prices right after the story in the local newspaper. Let the restaurants that sell your beer charge more. You shouldn't be charging more at your own Pub. With that being said I gave a 3 star because of how long we had to wait for our food and for the beer prices. With slow, slow kitchen service and expensive beers you might just put yourself out of business. Careful.
