“Little Things Mean a Lot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2011

I arrived at the hotel on what must have been a weekend to try the patience of anyone. Blistering hot weather, and computers crashing or stalling left and right. On top of this, the hotel seemed to be crowded to the brim.
On opening my hotel room door...finally, (the keys weren't working well...for "see above" reasons); my first reaction was "The bedspread is wrinkled" my second reaction? "The bedspread is WRINKLED!! This must mean that they DO wash the bedspreads.....Huzzah!!"
The room was well appointed, clean and very comfortable. I dined at the hotel bar (the restaurant wasn't open), and was served promptly and by friendly staff. The food (bar menu, plus restaurant menu choices) was obviously freshly cooked, and very good. I had the Tilapia with potatoes and asparagus. The fish was well seasoned, the potatoes piping hot and the asparagus done just right.
The complimentary breakfast buffet, was my first sign of just how stretched the staff were....there was a queue, and the staff tried to seat folk as quickly as they could. One lady, who I later discovered was Karen, the restaurant manager, dealt with the large crowd, and sometimes frazzled or disgruntled guests; with speed and calm. She "rolled up her sleeves" and mucked in rapidly, bussing tables, bustling about and keeping everyone as happy as she possibly could. Breakfast was good. The usual breakfast buffet fare, with the addition of some niceties. Fruit salad, yoghurt served in large bowls (so that we could decide how much to have); granola
And it was the niceties that made my stay extra comfortable. The stow-away washing line in the tub, the fruit salad; the very good shampoo; the later times for check out and end of breakfast; the attention of the staff; the piping hot and fresh food. These things made a good hotel, simply great. I'll be going back.

Clean, comfortable rooms with a view of the mountains. The hallways were clean and free of odors and spots that one may find at cheaper hotels. Our room had a king size bed with four pillows and was very comfortable. No odors in the room and it was spotless and the linens were fresh and clean. The water pressure was excellent and hot water came on instantly. Yes, instantly. The shower massage shower head didn’t disappoint and operated easily without my having to fight the damn thing. There were plenty of towels so one doesn’t need to ask for more unless they’re really sloppy.

Television remote worked as expected and the iron worked great too. Our room had a nice large desk to work at with an outlet built in to the lamp. Each room has a mic and fridge too. Pretty cool.

Free breakfast vouchers for an all-you-can-eat buffet that offers: scrambled eggs and bacon, potatoes, bagels, fresh fruit, muffins and yogurt. Our server filled up our coffee cups three times and had a pleasant attitude so we tipped her well.

The pool was refreshing and the sauna was nice and a hot 180 degrees.

Best Western offered “easy check out” with a box by the front door to put your room keys in so one doesn’t have to wait on line at the front desk.

There’s a Sunoco right down the road to fill up and even walk there to get some beer or cigarettes if one wants.

No, not every room has a view of the mountains, but everything else should cancel that out.

I booked a stay here for a birthday trip. I hadn't ever stayed at a Best Western before. The rooms were very nice. Our room was roomy and was clean. We will definitely stay here again!

Our room was very clean, quiet, and we felt secluded even though we were in a large hotel with many guests...It was very nice to have options for dining...The staff was very friendly and helpful. I got a bad headache the 2nd day we were staying and my husband was able to hop on the elevator and get some aspirin at the property...Wonderful palce to stay. Only, if you plug the address listed on their website into your GPS or TomTom it will direct you to a VA hosptial nearby. Call and get the mailing address on Wildflowers Lane and it will take you right there (it was very easy to get to off the interstate...)

We stayed here for a night in May 2011. The hotel is well located, as others have noted, and the hotel's own on-line rate for a double-double room was pretty cheap. This is a 5 star hotel for the price. The grounds are beautiful and well-tended, the rooms are large, seem new, and are very comfortably and stylishly furnished. Because of the location of the hotel, the rooms all have great views. What impressed me was the little touches - the good quality, clean carpeting, the bedspreads and pillows in the room, the fabric of the chairs, the clean modern styling of the large bathroom, the fabulous shower head, the way that all the common areas were spotless...you can tell that the owners and/or the management really care about their hotel. Our party ended up overrunning the bar and grill just before closing time, and while the staff was clearly harried, they were really nice and efficient and good-natured about it. The food was what you'd expect, though very tasty and fresh. I heard wonderful things about the pool, though we didn't use it ourselves. I would return in a heartbeat and will always recommend this hotel to others.

This is a nice, new motel on the edge of Wilkes-Barre, with a good breakfast, exercise room and walking route. The rooms are swank; the motel staff is friendly, efficient and helpful. It's close to I-81 and, while not inexpensive, is worth the money. We paid about $120 for a single room with a king bed. Nice view if you have a room looking west, too.

Front desk staff was very welcoming and helpful. Same, too, in the restaurant. Our room was comfortable, quiet and clean. The hotel's location was ideal for the purpose of our visit, with easy access to interstate routes, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, the city of Wilkes-Barre and neighboring communities in the Wyoming Valley. Zero complaints about this hotel.
