Any port in a storm would have done - we were running from Hurricane sandy in New York, driving west to get to the closest open airport to fly home from. Wilkes-Barre was our halfway point and I was looking to book a hotel with easy access right off the highway, and the Hampton Inn best fit the bill. At such a terrible time, we found an oasis. For about $150 a night, we ended up at a hotel that was on par with the most expensive Hilton I have ever stayed at. The decor is upscale and stylish, our room and bath exceedingly clean and fresh-faced (tile in the foyer!) and a bed that is super, super comfy. The only thing that interrupted our sleep was the howling wind from the storm.
When I stay at hotels I always use the fitness center. The fitness center here is large and very well appointed with several ellipticals and treadmills, free weights, two televisions, and a couple of stationary bikes and pilates balls. One of the best fitness centers I've experienced. There is also an indoor pool that my daughter used and I could keep a watch on her through the glass wall of the fitness center.
This is such a nice hotel that I wish I was here for a frequent stop -- I'd stay again in a heartbeat.
The negatives are so few that I can't think of a single one.. so if you are in the Wilkes-Barre area and want one of the best hotel values available in the US, stay here.
