“Used to be better”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

I used to love staying at and eating in the Woodlands. The rooms seem to have been remodeled and not always well. While things look good, they don't always function adequately. It took a great deal of force to close the door, every time. The lights next to the beds weren't bright enough to enable us to read in bed. One of the overhead lightbulbs was out and we were told that we would have to wait for a maintenance person to show up the next day before we could get a new one. Room smallish with not great view of parking lot (ask for stream side room). Walk in shower had 2 seats (?). As entering the room would involve walking up many stairs in either direction, this could not be a 'handicapped' room even though it was sort of on the main floor, but up many stairs so why the handicapped shower. Husband had to fix toilet because it didn't flush. Steam table eggs rubbery but you can ask for freshly made eggs. There is no sign saying this so you have to have read a review or read minds. "Owner' lets his Rotweiler roam off leash and doesn't make any effort to keep him away from guests. This is definitely not OK. All in all, OK but not as good as I remember in the past. Lunch in sandwich shop average. View good.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on the stream side. Parking lot not a great view.

We stayed here for a wedding and it was a perfect location! I enjoyed the modern decor and the cleanliness and comfort of our room. I wanted to comment however on how confusing it was to find anything. Many of us in our party "got lost" trying to find their way around. For a "resort" I found this to be an area that could use improvement. Especially with a wedding...there were no clear signs or staff directing guests or the bridal party where to go! I thought that was very odd and an area that could be improved. I also did not appreciate the clothing of the women at the main restaurant Crescenzo's. They were wearing tight low cut tank tops that said "Enjoy the Vu" which seemed very "Hooter-ish" and sleazy and did not seem to be appropriate for the day/afternoon time lunch hour. The breakfast was also cold. Given these two situations, if we stayed here again, we would most likely go out to eat somewhere else.

We recently stayed here (stay and play package) for a girl's night visit to Mohegan Sun. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The room was good. We recommend staying in the main hall overlooking the courtyard or stream (the other view is a parking lot). Beds were comfy with lots of soft pillows. Bathrooms a bit small for two women getting pretty but we made due. And the water pressure in the shower nearly blew me through the wall! The hot tub was awesome!! Soo relaxing! The complimentary breakfast was great with plenty of options. We made use of the grounds with a walk to stream. And we plan to return on our next girl's night out.

Special shout out to Nicole (check in) & John (check out). They were exceptional!

I stay at this hotel several times each year. Staff always very friendly, beds wonderful and great breakfast. They also have free shuttle to the casino which is great. This last trip I did have to wait for the front desk clerk to check to see if the room was ready. It was 4:45pm and he complained about the computer system not being updated with available rooms. I felt that was not something the guest needed to know, but I was in my room in 10 minutes. The Crescenzo's Brick Oven Eatery has good food and the outside bar is great this time of year.

Overall, the staff was very friendly. There were many things to do at the the hotel.
The only confusing part were the room numbers!
We enjoyed our stay. The Sky Vu bar was beautiful and a great way to start our vacation. Post 10pm, it gets really interesting too!

This is a nice, clean, comfortable, and fine hotel. My husband, daughter and myself spent my birthday here, and we had a blast. They have the restaurant and brick oven on site, along with the outdoor bar, if you go in the summer.

The room is cozy and comfortable with modern furnishings. You have to pay for your food at the restaurant, as it's not an all inclusive hotel. However, they give you coupons for discount at the restaurants and brick oven.

They do offer entertainment, but on certain nights. I don't remember which nights, as we have our toddler with us, so we didn't go check out the night entertainment on site.

They also have a spa on site, which was pretty cool. They have an indoor and outdoor pool, which is nice to serve any weather season. There's a beautiful stream at the side of the property. You can also get rooms with stream view, which is great, as there's a balcony that you can go out, and enjoy the view. We had upgraded to a stream view, and we loved the room.

Overall, it was a nice stay. We even added an extra night to our stay, because we were comfortable.

Room Tip: Select a room with stream side view.

This is one fantastic hotel! My wife and I were travelling home from vacation in North Carolina, with our dog, and due to it being Memorial weekend the only available hotel, that was pet friendly, in the Wilkes-Barre area was the Woodlands Inn. What a find! This was a great way to finish a vacation. The setting was amazing and the staff were fantastic. The room was perfect with access to the pet area. The restaurants served excellant food and the breakfast was great. The only complaint that I have about this hotel is that I could not stay longer and I had not found it years ago. We will be staying there every year from now on.
