This was a strange night. There were people in front of us that were told they had a NON smoking room but found it full of the stench of smoke 151?. They already waited for a long time to get that one and wanted to be moved. They were upset because check in time is usually 4pm. have no idea how long she had already waited. The woman at the desk said she did not have a clean room to move them too. She did tell her she could clean one but it would be awhile.
The story begins. It is 7:30pm and we are next. We had a reservation for a non smoking room.
check in was 4:00 and no room is ready! We told them we did not want the 151 room they were moving these other people out of. The woman at the desk said the place was full and we should have a room in 15 minutes. I asked why there was such a problem and she told me several housekeeping staff QUIT and she "walked into the mess" at 5pm. She would come to the bar and get us. She gave us a voucher for a free drink and 15% off food. I honestly believe she was trying to make the best of a bad situation. We headed off to the bar. Great drinks nice staff good wings. We met people at the bar and were enjoying our drinks.
About 90 minutes, or so later she told us the room was ready. NON SMOKING.
We went to the room opened the door and the stink of cigarettes was obvious.
I called the desk. I was told the entire first floor was smoke free. She offered to give us an ionizer to remove the smell because there were NO rooms available. No choice, it is now 1030.
The man brings the ionizer, we saw him earlier because he was at the front desk and was helping clean rooms. Tells us he can not smell anything because he is a smoker.
Also told us that first floor was NON SMOKING but if you REALLY wanted NON smoking ask for the 100 to 130 side of the building. He said to keep that in mind if we come back. We told him we weren't.
After he left I found ashes on the floor next to the toilet. Got us thinking that maybe he had a smoke while he cleaned, maybe not. The ionizer did NOT get the stench out so that room was a smoking room. It was in the curtains etc. The other little gift I found was 2 USED white wash cloths hanging over the shower bar in the bathroom. We slept well, the room was quiet, but the smell was bad. Left in the morning without having breakfast there. On the Up side: I did see a few cleaning people as we were leaving.
I think the people here need to understand NON smoking is just that. If they flip these rooms back and forth they will keep getting the same reviews. I for one will not ever stay at this one.
Also looked old inside carpets weren't clean. I would come for the wings!
