We had one night to get away without the kids and I found this Inn. After a week of sightseeing with 3 kids we needed peace and quiet and got it in this beautiful area. We stayed in the Pond House. We dropped in before the check-in time just to get our bearings and ask about suggestions for lunch and the inn keepers were really nice to let us come on in even though we were really early and they were not ready for us. They made a great restaurant recommendation. The Inn is just beautiful and the breakfast was phenomenal. Everything was fresh and served hot and timely. I just wish were closer so we could come back often.

Room Tip: Pond Room is peacful and secluded

We stayed in the cabin that has the view across the pond, just like in the picture above. We're an older couple, in our second marriage, and were looking for a peaceful and beautiful getaway. When I saw Whitewing Farm, I knew my wife and I would love the little cabin down by the pond. It's a bit isolated from the rest of the buildings, and quiet.

The new owners, Lance and Sandy Shortt are nice, hard-working folks that will strive to make your stay enjoyable. If you want to be left alone, they will leave you alone. If you want to be pampered, they'll do that, too.

They also own a restaurant, so the food was scrumptious. The French Toast reminded somewhat of bread pudding, and was terrific. We also had the pancakes, including blueberry, and get this...strawberry pancakes, which were a nice surprise and really tasted good. They serve wonderful fruit cups and something they call a "banana surprise" that is really good.

The room itself was nicely appointed, with highest quality sheets that were a dream to lie on. The place is clean and quiet in the country, but only a few minutes away from the amenities of a Wal-Mart, Appleby's, Wendy's, etc.. If you want to drive another 20-25 minutes, ask for directions to the restaurant these folks own in Exton. Unfortunately, we were not able to go, but I understand the food there is terrific, so we plan on making our way there one day soon.

We stayed in the room called "Fanny's Lair", named for one of the Japanese Koi that you can spot swimming in the pond, one white and one red-orange. There are several buildings in which you can stay, all separate from the primary home, which is my preference. Some are close to the nice little barn they serve breakfast in, or as in the one we stayed in, maybe 800 feet away, an uphill walk (which we were happy to take for the privacy). Also, I almost forget, they serve a nice little tea about 4:00 or 4:30, with tasty snacks served (we had baklava, mmmm).

Give this one a try, especially if you like simple, quiet country living. We did, and have not a single regret, and some treasured memories.

Our girls group was thrilled with our visit to Longwood Gardens and our stay at the Inn. The new owners are so friendly and caring. They gave us the Gate House so our 3 rooms were all together in one building with our own deck and porch. the rooms were so beautiful. Newly renovated, nicely decorated, spotless and so comfortable. The gourmet breakfast was amazing! We can't to come back!

We had planned an overnight trip to see Longwood Gardens and came across an ad for The Inn at Whitewing Farm. We were delighted from the moment we drove up! The new owners could not have been more gracious, the property was so unique and the breakfast served was delicious! We are already looking forward to our next visit!

I find this place online, It had just reopened under new owners. It has several rooms in various separate building around the property. Our room was the smallest but very pretty decor with a library of books available for borrowing. There is more privacy than most B&B. A large barn has been converted into the main breakfast and great room. Guests are free to come and go around the property. The location was great. Right behind Longwood Gardens. We visited, Nemours, Brandywine River museum, Longwood Gardens and the Hagley Museum. They all were within 20 minutes of the place. We had delicious gourmet breakfasts made by the owners. Sandy and Lance Shortt could not have been more welcoming. We plan to go back again.

We recently stayed here for a wonderful 3 day Mother/Daughter trip. The room by the pond was cozy and peaceful. Every night we were lulled to sleep by the water and loved sitting on the deck during the day to watch the ducks or read a good book in the sun. It is a gorgeous setting. The owners, Sandy and Lance, made us feel very welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. The breakfasts were cooked by Lance, a long time chef, and were absolutely amazing. There is so much to do in the area, we never ran out of things to do. Longwood Gardens, Winterthur, and Brandywine Museum are all close by. There is also places to hike, bike and canoe close by for outdoor enthusiats!

We just returned from this scenic inn nestled in some very beautiful countryside in west chester pa. My wife and I travel a fair bit and have been host to many excellent inns throughout New England and Canada. I'd consider us veteran travellers with a good range of accomodation experiences to draw from.
This was a family gathering to celebrate several family milestones and the Inn was used a base to operate out of for a busy weekend itinerary. Grounds are beautiful, rooms were clean but we had a suite and I'd rate it as very average. The rooms were cookie cuttered and you had to go through the one bedroom to use the bathroom. Overall though it certainly was acceptable, but overpriced in our opinion.
The biggest complaint is that for an Inn charging $300 plus a night, we were horrified by the lack of warmth by the operators. Similar to other peoples experiences, breakfast, while good food, was a disaster. The host was rude, didn't want anyone in our group to move a table to accomodate our party, and generally was about as rude and insensitive a host as we've experienced. Imagine a group of 20 paying somewhere in the area of $1500 plus for rooms and the host is acting like we're putting them out to slide two tables together at breakfast??? Are u kidding?? Our whole family loves to travel and we were uniformly humored but truthfully disgusted with the way the host bullied people into seats, complained that we needed to sit down for breakfast...and basically acted as if we were an inconvenience- instead of paying customers...
We all agreed that overall this place was a huge disappointment and we'd never return. If you're looking for ambiance...look elsewhere. The grounds are nice, but the people running this place need to take some lessons in how to actually make guests feel like they're $300 plus was worth it.. I'd look elsewhere if you're reading this.
