This is my favorite place on the Main Line. The gardens are beautiful and the place is big enough to make it worth the drive but no so big that you feel overwhelmed. Entrance fee is also quite modest, so it is quite affordable place to take out of town guests.
This is garden that is both beautiful and whimsical. Every time I go, it is such a pleasure. It is not stuffy at all or take itself too seriously. If you go in late summer, you can find some spectacular water lilies ... Looking like they are right out of a Monet watercolor.
Kids love rolling down the large hill by the main house, following a few of the tucked away pathways or sitting on the stone sofa.
I highly recommend it, and prefer it over Longwood Gardens.
