“Great food”

The dinner was really good and presented nicely. Just the right portion size. Our Waiter Mario knew his stuff and suggested a very nice wine for my wife. The restaurant was a little noisy and if I was going for an intimate dinner date would probably pick elsewhere.

“inconsistencies... :(”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2014

We celebrated an anniversary there with a weekend brunch. When I made the reservation, I explained that and I asked for a quiet place to sit. When we were shown our seats directly behind a table of 12 (!) and I asked for a different location, the frazzled hostess told us she was short staff and turned and walked away.
The food was wonderfully fresh, most of it delicious. The peach and berry appetizer was great. The blackberry bread pudding was great. The bacon on the fried green tomato BLT (great concept) was surely too hard to cut, almost too hard to chew. The coffee was great. The bloody Mary was just so so. Our server was informative and friendly.
Then only to find out that my daughter had pre-arranged with the restaurant to pay for our brunch. That never happened. Though they took her credit card number, they charged us.
Not so sure that i will rush back.

“Good place for fresh local food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2014

Went with a group of friends I haven't seen in many years and we all thoroughly enjoyed the place. Our waiter was extremely personable and well informed. He knew all of the components of each dish and the full history of the restaurant. We had a variety of the Sunday Brunch entrees and a couple of the specials. The mushroom soup is delicious and obviously local from Kennet square. All of the items we had were done well and delicious. Another thing, on the brunch days, you can have an option for all you can drink of several of the mixed drinks and you can mix or match for one price. The menu is varied with salads, sandwiches, eggs and other breakfast items and some lunch entrees. It is not cheap, but for the mainline, I would say about average. It is conveniently located in Wayne, but watch that you go to 200 WEST Lancaster.

“Who let the...well you know”

Too often a menu reads good but the food doesn't taste as expected. Not the case for White Dog! lots of fresh and seasonal ingredients. We had the salmon with corn fritters and tomato jam. Very nice. The beet and arugula salad was delicious with crispy polenta croutons. Steak salad and blueberry pancakes were good but not as exciting. Service was friendly and the decor has to be experienced.

“Food is uninspiring yet overpriced”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2014 via mobile

I was really hoping for a better experience my second time around. Unfortunately it did not happen and my level of disappointment in the cuisine is still justifiable. It does not seem to deter business as this place was packed on a Wednesday night. If you go, stick with the burger that's a safe choice.
