“Just for one night”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

At one time this must have been the place to party as there was a bottle opener on the wall. I thought that was strange. The room smelled old but the sheets were clean and I needed a nap. The bathtub was very small and the bottom was not clean looking as there was black stains on it. Reminded me of the movie Blue Velvet with Dennis Hopper. I was awaken in the night by the people beside us talking and taking a shower around 2 in the morning. The room was dark enough to sleep but the noise of the maids carts clanking along the sidewalk the next morning prevented a sleep in. They need to insulate all the walls inside and out.

Room Tip: Well we were located on the first floor and we could hear everything above and beside us in adjoinin...

The Ramada is convenient to interstates and fast food, reasonably priced, and quiet. Decor is tired. My room was clean and functional. For a quick 1-night stop it was okay, especially since I was traveling with my small dog which limits hotel choices. The huge acreage around the hotel is great for exercising dogs, but they charged an additional $35 "non refundable deposit", which is steep.

The non smoking room smelled heavily of smoke. If you are sensitive to smells, do not stay here. Other than that is was okay.

I felt like I was back at the 1964 World's Fair...retro, but not intentionally so. The lobby is an interesting tribute to the 60s, as is the room where breakfast is held. Unfortunately, the lobby and the dining room have a musty, somewhat smokey smell - as if it has not been aired out in years. The room was clean and it is clear they are trying to update things - nice fluffy towels, nice toiletries, four pillows on each bed, nice sheets, a big flat screen tv w/ great channels...but the blanket was actually threadbare, and the carpets looked suspicious. They had updated the tub surround recently. The mattresses were ok. While the room struck me as clean, it did not smell fresh - again, it seemed like it needed airing out.

We arrived at our room - which was on the pool side, on the first floor - at about 9 pm. There was some sort of party going on with many residents milling around, with loud music and flashing lights. Luckily this wound down fairly quickly, but it was disconcerting to say the least.

Breakfast was interesting. Juice was watered down. They had cereal and a variety of bread-type items sealed in individual portions. There was also the classic waffle making set up. You could also buy a hot breakfast but from what I saw, it did not look good.

All in all, I have to give them credits for their efforts to update and the overall cleanliness. But the overall feel was a bit of a downer. It did take me back to my childhood, as it is the classic 1960 hotel, and that was an unexpected perk.
