We loved the food and service. However, our table was too close to the service area. It was too busy and noisy.

“No gamble on their fine food and service...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013

Dinner tonight was to be a special and we made the trip to Bistecca at the Meadows Casino because we had heard good things. We had reservations for 7PM and we arrived a few minutes early but was seated promptly at a seat next to the window giving us a view of the race track. If you are not familiar, this is a horse "harness racing" track. The casino is newly constructed, but the track has been here for over 50 years.

While we welcomed the track side seating, there was no racing this evening and the illuminated billboard on the infield was running and became irritating as the evening progressed.

Service was very good. Our waitress was very informative and knowledgeable about the menu. We selected three of the appetizers and wine for the table. We choose the Calamari with marinara sauce $12, Blackened Scallops with habanero jelly $19 and a Cured meats & Cheeses plate that included Prosciutto Di Parma, hot & sweet Sopressata, assorted Cheeses, Roasted Peppers & Olives $18. The calamari was nicely seasoned and not over cooked (important), and the scallops were perfect. The Cured Meat and Cheese left us wanting more.

Entrees included Grilled Salmon with a Orange Glaze $21, a couple of New York Strip 14 OZ center cut steaks $36(each), and a Ribeye 20 OZ Bone-in $44. Since this place is a-la carte, we ordered three sides for sharing, Steamed Broccoli $7, Potatoes Au Gratin $8 and Sauteed Mushrooms $7. The Salmon was grilled to perfection, however we could have done without the orange sauce. All the steaks were properly cooked, however we noticed that there was lots of carbon or burnt meat residue on the steaks. We were not sure if this was based on the signature way of cooking the steaks or if the grill could have used a bit of cleaning. None the less, the steaks were very good and very lean, even the Ribeye. The sides were also very good except the Sauteed Mushrooms. They were over cooked and not very pleasing.

Desert was a large slice of cheese cake accompanied buy a 15 year old port that I neglected to document. Very enjoyable.

Despite a few misses, the dinner was very good and the service superb. The prices here are a bit on the high side based on other Casino Steak Houses within driving distance and nnot our favorite, but that didn't distract from a good time and a wonderful meal.

Since this restaurant is located in the casino, while I would have liked to invite my older children to share the experience, you must be 21 to enter. Parking is free in covered garages or you can opt to valet.

“Aweful on two occasions”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2013

We had been here twice. Once for dinner with friends and once for a Christmas party. The restaurant is extremely over-priced. Four of us were seated at a huge round table like you would see in a banquet hall for 8 or 10 people. All of our meals were below average. The risotto was cold and crunchy AND NOT crunchy or al dente like true risotto should be. The time we went for the Christmas party...it was beyond HORRIBLE! we had pre-ordered our meals so they knew exactely how many steak /chicken entrees and type of salad we each wanted
(this was a group of about 40 in a private room) the dinner service took forever. EVERY steak served was cold, and cooked incorrectly. The salads were wrong. The waitress was good about it and offered to get people new steaks. The manager was un-apologetic simply explaining that the kitchen is far away. I was quite disgusted with this. My education and work background is in hotel and restaurant management and have worked for many years in the industry. We will NEVER return to this restaurant and will be sure to tell others to stay away!

“Excellent Steakhouse!”

I ate at this restaurant 2 of my 3 night business trip. I highly recommend the Filet Oscar. I also enjoyed live racing from my table. Service was top notch.
