Bridgeton House on the Delaware
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed June 17, 2013

As a couple who frequent B&B's with our pet dog, we couldn't have been more pleased with the accommodations and surroundings offered by Bridgeton House. The staff were all professional and quite helpful. Everyone was very down to earth and friendly which made us feel quite at home in this beautiful rural setting on the Delaware River. Gourmet-style breakfasts provided each morning were more than ample and served in a comfortable, relaxing environment. Although we did not familiarize ourselves with all of the guest rooms, our accommodations in the Boat House, which is small-pet friendly, was perhaps the most spacious and highly appointed stand-alone suite that we have encountered over the years. We enjoyed our stay so much that we made reservations for another get-away before check-out.

We are very pleased you enjoyed your visit with the best dog ever! Everyone on staff was charmed by your four footed friend & the Boat House provides the best spot for relaxing. We are so happy to know that four days was not enough & you all are planning to return again in the fall!

It was our pleasure to accommodate you & we look forward to your return.

All the best,

My husband and I spent 3 nights in the Boat House at the Bridgeton House in May. The Bridgeton House is the perfect peaceful oasis in hectic everyday lives. We were looking for luxury, privacy and serenity, the Boat House fit the bill perfectly. Check in was a breeze, Claire the innkeeper was very knowledgeable and friendly. She made sure we had everything we needed, made our dinner reservation for us and settled us into the Boat House. It’s located right next to the main house, via a lovely little walkway. The pictures on the website are accurate, it’s very charming. The main room has two sets of French doors, part of the ceiling is vaulted, and the other side is a little low adding to a cozy atmosphere. The large leather sofa faces the fireplace and the flat screen TV, there is also a club chair with an ottoman that’s very comfortable. In the corner of the living room is the Jacuzzi that I used every day, what a treat. It’s a little out in the open, but there is a movable screen that gave me all the privacy I needed.

There’s a quaint little kitchen (coffee maker, fridge, microwave) that’s fully stocked with plates, bowls, flatware. It came in very handy to have some snacks and beverages that were left by the innkeepers.

The small bedroom has a fantastic bed that was very comfortable; the linens were very high quality. I called ahead and asked that all feather pillows and the feather bed be removed as I’m allergic. A little note was left on the dresser letting us know that all feather materials had been removed. There’s a small TV in the bedroom, that’s a bit dated, it worked just fine. One minor negative would be that the bed room windows are not completely covered by the curtains allowing a lot of light to come into the room early in the morning.

The views from the living room and the bedroom were picture perfect, there are several outdoor seating areas around the Boat House, we walked down to the chairs by the Rivers Edge at least once a day and every night to enjoy the view and relax, spectacular!

We’ve stayed at several B&B’s; the breakfast at the Bridgeton House was by far the best we’ve had. With several choices, over the 3 days we sampled a lot of different items, everything we ate was wonderful. The snacks laid out at tea time in the afternoon were also great, one of the best lemon squares I’ve ever had.

This was a perfect relaxing getaway and we can’t wait to come back again.

Room Tip: Stay in the Boat House for added privacy.

Dear Joanne,
Thank you for sharing your experiences about your stay in the Boat House. We are so glad it was a peaceful & serene. We do have a wonderful staff, Clair, our Director of Guest services, is such an asset & she loves what she does, helping our guests relax! Our chef's Karen & Pat work together to create menus that are diverse & use as much local products we can obtain. The lemon bars are my favorite too!

We are so pleased you can't wait to come back, autumn along the river is just beautiful! We look forward to welcoming you.

Thank you again for your review.

This place gets a '4' for it's setting, attention to detail and, most of all, the staff, especially Claire!!

The only reason it didn't rate a 5 is the constant traffic noise on the bridge. I wanted to get away to peace and quiet and the nearly constant noise was a bit much. We were in the room called the Garrett. The balcony, comfy bed and view of the river are wonderful and so relaxing although the walls were painted a little too funky for my taste.

The best part of the stay was anything food! I have eaten out quite a bit in my life and this was an exceptional breakfast and the afternoon tea was delightful as well.

If I went again, I would choose a different room (I think the other rooms were larger as well and for the price, I would want a larger room) although a view of the river is a must. Perhaps another room would hear less bridge traffic. I understand that you can also order dinner which I would do if I went again because having dinner on the balcony would have been sweet!

Also, this inn is a little farther north from New Hope. If you are coming north from New Hope especially at night, it is best to come up on the Jersey side because the road is much better.

Wonderful attention to detail here: magazines in the room, internet, menus from local restaurants, video library, pretty fountain and seating areas out back etc.

Room Tip: We were in the Garrett. I saw one of the other rooms and it had prettier decor and seemed larger. Ch...

We stayed in room 1..with a front porch overlooking the river..I spent alot of time out there reading and just taking in the serenity of the place. Claire made me feel right at home. It was so relaxing not to have to worry about cooking and cleaning up. We had a long walk along the canal on the tow path...it seems to go on forever. Perfectly situated in picturesque Pennsylvania countryside. A wonderful weekend.and breakfast was soooo good..banana bread french toast with raspberry/blackberry sauce. Wow!

We are very glad you enjoyed the serenity of our location & that you were able to relax on your porch while reading. We love the towpath & canal, it is 60 miles long, just a half a block from the inn, it does go on almost forever!
I will pass your lovely compliments onto the lovely Clair & to our talented chefs, Pat & Karen. We look forward to welcoming you again!

A lovely bed and breakfast perched right on the Delaware River. Lovely rooms, peaceful setting and great location for biking along the river and canal paths. Wonderful restaurants nearby. Some rooms have balconies overlooking the river but if not, there are plenty of chairs outside. Nice cookies every afternoon. Delicious breakfasts. You won't leave hungry!

We stayed for two nights and wished it could go on and on. The Delaware room was fantastic however Clair gave us a tour of most of the other rooms, and each has it's own personallity. The "boat house", a cottage suite, looks absolutely fabulous and will return to stay there. And they have a Penthouse with a full balcony. Our room also had a screened balcony, like most of the river side rooms, with a slider bench which made it perfect for a cocktail. Can not remember when I felt more relaxed. Lots to do within a 30 minute drive, including shopping, wineries, great restaurants and art galore. Will be going back in the fall during the color change.

Room Tip: River side rooms have great views of the river.
