We were visiting family in Tyrone, and stayed at Stony Point to be close by - but we got so much more. The building and grounds are beautiful and historic. Paul and David were friendly and gracious. And we had everything we needed - including a good Internet hookup and a clean and relaxing environment. What else could you ask for?

The house is a beautiful historical mansion. Even though it is very well kept and sparkling clean, there is still a lot of original notes in the house decor elements that give the house a lot of character - let me just say that the door keys and the keyholes alone make you want to giggle.
The owner and the inn-keeper made us feel home, their hospitality was superior to any other place I have ever been to (and we are well travelled). Paul, the inn-keeper, is a superb cook, and he treated us to the most delicios breakfast every day (the pinch-me bread, recipe of the owner's mother was a huge hit with my daughter).
Only one thing to say - you will want to come back.

I was so pleasantly surprised to find Stony Point -- the alternative was yet another drab chain hotel. Instead we had a stone mansion in a cool glade, an elegant library and a cozy summer porch. Fresh cookies and tea, hot breakfast with fresh eggs and homemade coffee cake. Firm beds and fluffy towels. Near Altoona and State College, we used this B&B for our basecamp while fly fishing Spruce Creek and the Little Juniata, just minutes down the road. Your host is a great guy, he even sent us out the door with snacks for on the river. Enjoy!

Stony Point is charming, clean, cozy, comfortable! The beds are new and comfortable, the towels are white and fluffy -- and innkeeper Paul made us the best Monkey Bread ever as part of our delicious breakfast. We fished the Little Juniata (6 minutes) and Spruce Creek (15 minutes) on our fly-fishing weekend. This was the perfect spot to stay. Telling you about Stony Point is like sharing the directions to the best spot on the river to fish, but they deserve to be known-- a lucky find. The only thing you have to be aware of is the potential for a shared bath (or reserve a suite).

What a great find in this little town near State College, PA; a beautiful maintained home with a lot of history, antiques and charactor. All rooms have a large screen TV, a wonderful bed, and interesting features; we stayed on the 3rd floor and the windows were magnificent. The breakfast part of our stay was also great. The only negative is that most rooms share baths; however; this is not an issue if you are staying with family members since there is plenty of privacy and security provided for this situation which is not uncommon to some of the older B&B's.
