Description: The red rose diner is under it's third owner ship. It opened in towarda, pa in 2003. It spent its previous life in stroudsburg, pa under the lackawanna trail diner and jerry's. If you search the red rose diner you can find lots of youtubes and articles about the red rose diner and gordon tindall who refurbished this diner. He brought it to lancaster where it was painted in 2000 by joe long. The current owner is retired so he does not count a revenue from this venture. He looks at it like being the keeper of a light house.

“Cool looking place, average food”

Neat place. This is an old train car made into a diner which makes for a tight fit. The food was simple, service was very good.

“Historic Rail Car Diner”

Typical Diner food, burgers, meatloaf, fries etc, Very tight seating since you actually sit in a train car. Good service, decent quality food. Offers daily special all at good prices.

“The diner and the dirt have both been there since the 50's”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2012

My daughter and I visited on a Sunday. Everything around was closed on Sunday, so this was the only breakfast we could find. The diner was HOT-no AC, no fans, just a propped open vent in the roof. We sat at the counter. The food was ok, but the dirt was almost unbearable. The countertops were grungy. The plates had dried food on the outside from someone else's food. There are thick greasy stains and flies everywhere. This might be better on other days, but on this Sunday, we couldn't get out of there fast enough. My daughter wondered how it passes the food inspector's visits. Maybe they didn't have any lately?

“Great atmosphere, decent food - as long as the weather isn't hot!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2012

Enjoyable, made to order cheap lunch. However, we could feel all 80 degrees outside in the station car too! So just beware that there's no a/c. The food was okay; the tuna melt, made to order, still had way too much mayo in the tuna portion although I asked for there not to be. However, the portion of cheese was generous. My husand's sandwich, though basic, was good. The coca-cola was a little too syrupy. But the atmosphere was unbeatable if you like funky old diners.

“Red Rose Blooms”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2012

Wow. Words fail me. Such an experience. Incroyable. Homemade pies, polish sausage, Betty at the griddle and a step back into the fantasy world of my 1950's. An evocative experience on my trip from Montreal to Lancaster to see and hear the Lord of traditional country music, Ray Price.
