Camelbeach is a great water park for families - it's clean, there is plenty of personell to manage the park, and there's a wide variety of rides. Get there when it opens, though, as it gets really crowded after noon and it's hard to find chairs. Lots of school groups there during the week, but they all leave around 4 p.m. and the line lengths are dramatically reduced.

On the downside, the park plays really irritating music, and they play it really, really loudly, even in the bathrooms. That got kind of old after 5 or 6 hours. The brochures for the park claim the water is heated and feels great even on a cold day, but on the day we were there, the water was freezing. (Outside temp was in the low 80's and we were still cold after getting out of the pool.) One of the lifeguards told me they don't really heat the water. Interesting...

Anyway, despite a few complaints, my family had a great time at Camelbeach.

When we go on a family vaction we always try to find a waterpark to take the kids to. So, I've been to several of them over the years.

Camelbeach ranks right at the top.

The park is clean and well run. There are plenty of lifeguards. The lifeguards are very alert and take their jobs seriously.

We went on a Saturday in July and the park wasn't overly crowded. This is always a plus.

The food was decent for amusement park food. Prices about what you'd expect for this type of place.

The chlorine in the water was a bit strong and stung my eyes.
But it wasn't that bad, I've been in worse.

Overall we had a nice day and all the kids (ages 6-13) had a great time.

Definately would recommend.

I went to Camelbeach with my kids for a day trip and had a nice time, until I returned to my car and found out that it was broken into. My GPS and a computer were stolen. The cops had been called, but the park management made no attemot to contact me for 90+ minutes. There were four other cars vandalized in that lot on that day. There are no warnings about security concerns, though there are security patrols. The police indicated that this happens with some frequency. The long and short of it is to be aware that others prey on the tourists and park management needs to be more aggressive in their visibility if they want to remain a destination people will be willing to risk visiting.

My family has been twice in the last few years. It tons of fun for all age groups. The park is very well staff with tons of lifeguards and they certainly keep the kids in check with following the rules so everyone at the park can enjoy themselves. Get the most out of the trip and go the night before after 4pm and then the next day for the same price. Hotels in the area are cheap and makes for a great 2 day family get away if you live within a few hours. Tannersville itself is also a fun little town - shopping to do at the outlets and other stops. Definitley 4 stars :)

Camelback's superb ski center becomes Camelbeach amazing family water park in the summer (now 7 years old and growing). A great destination for families, couples, anyone!-well worth travel of a few hours--but prepare to stay for at least a day or two if you want to experience all that the park has to offer (lots of reasonably priced hotels/resorts in the area). The park has a lot to offer for folks of any age(including preschool age and older teens-groups often neglected by water parks that pitch to the 8-12 group) as well as adults without children. In addition to 22 waterslides (racing slides, high speed twisting slides with a snake pit and six story drops, spinning slides, and more mild slides for the non-thrill seekers) there is a beautiful nile adventure river ride (relax on a tube and pass water falls, bridges and "mountains"), huge wave pool, bumper boats, a competition size pool for swimming, an interactive activity pool with minislides, tipping buckets and water play for the younger group, miniature golf, scenic chaairlift ride to mountain top and lodge, fabulous food/cafes/drinks (for children and adults). Although a popular park, no long lines -and when there are any lines at all they move along quickly. And, guests are free to enjoy their activities without being rushed along. You can stay on your tube on the Nile river for one rotation or for the day-likewise for the wave pool. For those of us phobic of cold water, the water is comfortably heated-not noticably warm but easy to enter and comfortable/refreshing. Once in the park, the only extra charges are for food, purchases at the gift shop (that is also equipped with anything you might have forgotten), and a nominal fee for lockers. This is one of the few family parks that do not gouge their guests. Everything is reasonably priced-comparable to what you would pay for a similar item at the grocery store or pharmacy. Sandy areas with lounge chairs, indoor and outdoor cafe's. Everything is arranged for the convenience and enjoyment of families. And, the park is beautiful-very very clean and the rides/cafes/are brightly colored-everything sparkling. Admission is very reasonable (20- some for the day, same for a bonus night for those who arrive after 4 and plan to stay for the next day, less for return visit, season passes available). No hidden fees-not even extra charges for their ATM. Staff are not only professional but upbeat, friendly and helpful. Plenty of life guards-all attentive and apparently well trained-even the littlest tike is safe at this park. Safety appears to be their top priority but it does not interfere with fun! Food ranges from healthy (salad, grilled chicken, fresh fruit, vegies, etc) to the usual amusement park eats(fried, etc)-all delicious. The park is nestled in the mountains --even the parking lots are not visible from the park--but the park is easily accessible-within minutes of major highway and parking is free. For those who would prefer to bring their own food/drinks, there is a picnic area adjacent to the park. The park schedule runs from late May to early September. (Where they put everything in preparation for skiing is a complete mystery-everything seems permanent). In the event of rain, there is an indoor arcade, restaurant, etc. The park also offers constomized special events (company retreats/picnics, birthday parties, reunions, wedding receptions, etc). This is one of the nicest summer family activities within a 100 mile rad---Do not confuse this with other "water parks" located next to highways offering bumper boats, a few slides and ice cream. In contrast to those, Camelbeach is a great way to spend a day or two for the entire family!
