This place has everything you need for a big event like a wedding or reunion - restaurant on site, spa, event halls, wide variety of room types - but I'm not sure I would just stay here on my own for a vacation. Everytime we tried to eat in the restaurant and order off the menu, the service was not that great. They seemed baffled by a big group, even though that's what they advertise as their specialty. The only exceptional meal I ate there was the Friday night seafood buffet. The rooms, booked a year in advance, were assigned incorrectly and caused a lot of drama for the immediate family. I stayed in a suite with a very loud HVAC system that looked like it was decorated in the 80s. Spacious, but old, ugly wallpaper and furnishings. We did a girl's spa day, and the staff there was wonderful and very accommodating. Overall a decent place for a wedding, especially if you like to ski in the area. Just bring extra patience to help you when checking in and getting food at the restaurant.

If you are planning on celebrating an event at the Stroudsmoor for brunch be sure you like plain, barely flavorful, ordinary food. We had a small party of individuals who came for a birthday celebration. Nothing complex about the food. If you are looking fo some interesting salads (japaneese noodle salad or a shrimp or even an intersting vegetable salad) with a tasty dressing or possible an interesting dressing...forget it. You can choose a pewter bowl of carrots, or grape tomatoes or cottage cheese or onions straight from the bag or container from the food supplier into the bowl. Have they heard that there are great sauces available that can be applied to a boneless ham or a slice of beef? the restaurant does give you catsup, mustard or a creamy horseradish sauce...that might be the most exciting thing on the menu! They have a veal stew, called a fancier name...that was the most interesting available item and had some flavor. If you do not eat red meat there was chicken on the bone...did I mention it was plain? The menu really is dated...we have been there about three other times in the past ten years, mostly because it is a convenient place when meeting folks from New Jersey and Scranton but the food has stayed the same. Time for an update, please! I will say the omelette was good... a salvation to the other bland, unoriginal items. I cannot imagine an executive chef beiing happy having to prepare mediocre everyday items. The owners are italien, be proud of your heritage and show it during brunch not just on one night at a buffet for dinner! I also suggest they visit the restaurant Patsels in Clark Summit, Pa for some up to date ideas on what to serve for a brunch. And please coffee/tea at the table at the offset...not while guests are on their second plate of food...Really!

Six of us long time friends (all women) shared a Ledgemere Loft Suite here and we had a wonderful time. We did a girlfriends getaway package which included the night's stay, spa treatments, dinner, continental breakfast and brunch the next day. The room was very nice, king bed in the spacious master bedroom. Beautiful, large, bathroom with jacuzzi tub and regular shower. Nice living room with a working fireplace and a loft space which was large enough to essentially be another living room. There was also a nice porch with chairs where we could sit outside and take it all in. The spa was the best part. We all agreed that the massages were probably the best we'd ever had. The pool and hot tub were wonderful. They are in this really nice room which is heated so it feels almost like you're in a sauna - very relaxing. The food at dinner and brunch was good, not amazing, but definitely good (we were coming from Philly where there is an overwhelming amount of top restaurants with amazing food, so that is our perspective). Desserts were pretty fantastic though. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and we all agreed that it was really the perfect place to go for what we were looking for. One thing I'd say is that, while the Ledgemere Loft was very nice, and the whole package was very affordable, 6 is a lot of people for the Ledgemere Loft. We were totally fine with it because we're very close friends, and have no problem sharing one bathroom and having most of us sleep on sofa beds - for us, it was more important to all be in one room and keep costs down, but if you want more actual beds and/or more bathrooms, consider getting two rooms, or a different type of suite that comes with more beds.

After my 2nd trip to the Stroudsmoor Country Inn I decided it was time to write a review. Both times my husband and I visited was in the winter with the plan to celbrate Valentine's Day and go snow tubing in the area. The Stroudsmoor Country Inn is definitely a gem in the Poconos. Living less than 2 hours away, it's the perfect spot for a quick getaway. Nestled at the top of a Pocono Mountain, it is surrounded by nature and very secluded. Once we stayed in one of the cottages, and once in the main inn. Both have their advantages for different reasons. The cottages are very nicely decorated with access to a porch, and directly across the street from the main inn. The main inn, which is where the restaurant is, had much more of a historic feel to it because it's a much older building. The lobby/bar area is gorgeous, and the huge fireplace smack in the middle is warm and very inviting. The room we stayed at in the main inn was beautiful too and very quaintly decorated. Whatever you do, DO NOT miss the all you can eat Fiesta Del Mar (Seafood Buffet) every Friday night. It's worth the trip for the dinner alone, and it's unbelievably inexpensive (around $35pp.... and did I mention it was ALL YOU CAN EAT??). The breakfasts in the morning are equally delicious and very filling. You can pretty much just tell the waiter what you feel like having and voila, a hearty breakfast, included with the price of the room. Shawnee and Camelback Mountains are minutes away, along with Bushkill Falls, hiking and shopping. Next time I visit the Poconos, no doubt I will be staying at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn.

What a wonderful wedding they put on for the bride and groom. The food throughout the weekend was great and Patti our server at the wedding reception was fantistic. The accommodations were also great. I would go back and take my family for a weekend getaway.

Room Tip: The rooms at the main house were ok for coulples, but not for more then 2 people.

We are not that far from the Poconos but did not know about this place until about 4 years ago. We have been trying to get up here 2 or 3 times a year at least as we enjoy it so much. The lunch menu is wonderful and good is delicious. We've only had lunch here but the Friday seafood dinner and the daily dinner specials as well as the Sunday brunch all sound great. Lunch is reasonable with sandwiches and dinners available. Included is the salad bar with a lot of lunches and it includes soup and baked potatoes + toppings which were added recently. Rolls and scones + fresh fruit usually serve as a dessert for us. Dining atmosphere is relaxing and enjoyable, never rushed. Desserts, when we've had room for them, are delicious. Three of us ate lunch here this past Sat. for what a sandwhich somewhere else would have cost us. My husband and I had a full course chicken dinner with soup and salad bar, dessert and coffee and my daughter had an appetizer + burger and fries and it cost us less than $50 including tip. Beautiful in the Fall with leaves changing. Can't say enough - a little out of the way but worth the ride for the nice setting and delicious food. Try it! We overheard someone checking in and the room was only $89 - think we'll try it for a nice week-end getaway, indoor pool is a plus.

We just spent four nights at the Stroudsmoor, and are frequent guests. We have three small children and rented a suite. The entire staff, from the front desk, to the restaurant, to the maid service professionals, are all genuinely friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean, spacious, and filled with nice amenities like the orange soap and shampoo sets. The breakfast that is included in the room is over the top good, fancy, and the servers make you feel like a VIP, even with small messy children. The food at the buffet is incredible, we ate two nights in a row and the quality is just fantastic. I believe that the friendliness of the staff is genuine and not superficial for the sake of a tip. We LOVE this place.
