To begin an understanding of the Pennsylvania Dutch culture, The Amish Village provides a 25-minute guided farmhouse tour. A 90-minute back roads bus tour is also offered to take you off the beaten path, past working farms and along country roads where buggies roll along and farmers work their fields.

The Amish Village is very, very clean and quiet. No photos are allowed of the people because of their beliefs. The arts and crafts are handmade and beautiful. The stands sell fresh vegetables, fruits, and old fashioned preserves in Mason jars like grandma use to make. The restaurants serve fresh home made meals. The shoofly pie is very good. The Amish people are very nice towards outsiders. Visit there is feeling of peace and tranquility abides there. You need a car or bus tour to get there.

A great way to see how the Amish used to live as well as what changes they've made to adjust to modern living.

We took the tour of the house. Our tour guide was great. Very informative. My son took tons of pictures. They loved the schoolhouse the most. Snack shop and gift shop were a big hit! You must take your kids here for the full Amish experience.

We did the tour. You see a typical Amish house and the guide is telling you about the way of living of the Amish which is very interesting. After looking into all parts of the house you can also walk around on the area where you find tools where Amish work with.

This is a tour of a former amish house given (in our case) by a former amish person. The tour of the house was informative, especially given by a person who grew up amish. The grounds are nothing special although the schoolhouse was interesting. The best part of our visit was the 10 minutes or so we spent with a "real" amish woman who works on the grounds. The amish don't really like to mix with outsiders but since she works there it is part of her job so we weren't truly intruding. Her conviction was clear and as anticipated she made no bones about what she believes and why. If you visit, I would suggest seeking out an amish person as you rarely get this opportunity.
