“Pleasantly surprised!”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

This was our first visit to Strasburg. We were in town to see Thomas the Train with our 4-yr old. We did not really know what to expect, and boy, were we pleasantly surprised! The place inside was way bigger than it appears from the outside. For being an old establishment, it certainly had up-to-date amenities. The weather was a bit chilly and the bathroom's overhead heater felt soooo good. Individual room thermostats, a flatscreen tv, a mini-fridge, and more than enough towels. Our room was also very clean. They are also bigger than they appear in the photos. There was a common area on the second floor that felt like you were visiting grandma's -- it was cozy, clean, and they had fudge, coffee, and tea there daily. There was also a big flatscreen tv and plenty of board games available in the common area. My son had so much fun there. We only stayed one night, but my son kept asking why were were not staying a second night! Linda was so wonderful, funny, and such a good person. We so loved her and so did my son ("strawberrYYY!" -- Linda knows what that means!). By the way, the free breakfast was a FULL breakfast in the downstairs deli/creamery. mmmmmm! We bought wine from the winery downstairs, and stocked up on a few things in the country store. Too bad we didn't get to see the fudge being made in the candy shop.
I would totally stay there again! I thought I read someone complain about street noise, but we didn't hear anything... Our window faced the side/back. Thank you Linda and Jody! Your hospitality is immeasurable!

Room Tip: My room faced the side/back. It was nice and quiet!

Thank you for the kind and positive comments you shared regarding your recent stay with us. We know that travelers have many choices for lodging in our area, and are always pleased when we can help people discover that there are pleasant experiences in properties that aren't big hotels along the major highway.

A clean, comfortable room at a fair price is expected at any lodging property; extra amenities like a Keurig coffeemaker, gathering room, free samples of fudge and staff who entertains you are what can set one property apart from another. We're glad that you recognized these extras and enjoyed them.

We have shared your comments with Linda, and you put a big smile on her face as she remembered "strawberryyyyyyy".

Don't forget that Thomas the Tank makes three visits to Strasburg annually, and hopefully you'll get to see one of our candy professionals making that fantastic fudge if you visit us again.

Thank you again for letting other travelers know of your experience. Come back and see us soon!

This lovely Inn was highly recommended to my husband and I by our friends. They did not steer us wrong! Our room was very nicely decorated and the king size bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed the fudge and coffee provided in the common room. There were several choices for breakfast which was served in the creamery store attached to the Inn. Jody, the Inn manager, is a delight. She is warm, friendly and helpful. This is a great location for visiting the surrounding Lancaster attractions. We will definitely stay here again!

Thank you for taking the time to share comments with other travelers about your stay at our Inn. We are glad your friends referred you to us, and glad that you had a positive experience!

We appreciate knowing that you enjoyed the samples of fudge and the Keurig coffeemaker with its assortment of coffees and teas available to you at any time of the day or night. These are amenities that we know help make your stay with us different than other lodging properties, Having a clean, comfortable room and a full, hot, cooked-to-order breakfast are some the hallmarks that make staying at an Inn or B&B so much more delightful than those cookie-cutter type hotels!

We look forward to the pleasure of being your host when you return to the area!

My wife and I checked into the Strasburg Village Inn on Friday, September 7th for a two night stay. We stayed in room 2, which is a wonderful room! It has a private deck in the back which was great for reading and for the two of us to catch up. The room had a large bathroom and all the amenities that you would expect in a first class inn. They surprised us with providing homemade fudge in the common room for our enjoyment. The breakfast was held in the creamery store attached to the inn. We enjoyed this experience as well as the staff of the creamery was excellent. Jody, the innkeeper of the Strasburg Village Inn will be the reason that you will come back again however. She was excellent, had tons of information for us, made us dinner reservations at a great restaurant in town, and made the experience all the more special by just being there when needed! We will definitely come back and stay at this great inn again. It was 5 minutes from Sight and Sound and you can walk to numerous historical sights right in town. I was glad I found this inn!

Room Tip: I have only stayed in room 2, but I would highly recommend it. Talking with other guests however pr...

Thank you for taking the time to post comments revieiwing your recent stay at our Inn. We adore having so many opportunities to spoil our guests when they stay with us, from the fudge made next door in the Candy Kitchen to great recommendations of places to visit and dine at. It's important to us that our guests feel like they are staying with friends and/or family, a feeling most large hotels can't accomplish.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay and the chance to "sit out" on the porch. Please come back and see us again, and yes, we have other great rooms you might want to try out if the weather isn't cooperative to making the porch a good choice!

Thank you again!

We stayed here for our 45th anniversary, The staff and the accommodations were wonderful. Manager Jody and housekeepers Miranda and Kathleen just couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. The breakfasts at the Creamery next door were superb. The walk along Main Street was lovely. And - you have to see Jonah at Sight and Sound Theatre. By the way, you must also take the dining car ride on the Strasburg Railroad - a real treat. Thanks Strasburg Inn for treating us like family!

The Inn is centrally located on Main street in Strasburg, close enough to Lancaster attractions. But far enough to make it a more comfortable getaway. Jody was very nice and helpful. The rooms were small but pleasant. Having our breakfast next door at the creamery was fun. Would highly recommend this Inn. Especially the fudge, coffee & tea always available. Great sitting room.

Room Tip: I would not recommend room at the front of the Inn. The street lights were too bright in the room. W...

Thank you for taking the time to post comments about your experience at our Inn. Future guests appreciate objective feedback from previous guests to help them determine if a facility meets their needs and expectations.

I'm glad that the Inn suited your needs for your stay, and that you enjoyed the extra amenities like our Keuring coffeemaker and selection of coffees and teas, as well as the samples of fudge from the Candy Kitchen next door to tease your tastebuds.

We're also glad you've come to realize that the wonderful historic town of Strasburg is only minutes away from the major thoroughfare through Lancaster County, but that those few minutes bring you to a quiet town with brick sidewalks and an ongoing sight and sound of horses and buggies that are a popular reason tourists come to the areal.

We thank you for recommending the Inn to those who read your review, and we would be happy to have you come stay with us again!

On this most recent stay, I was with my two young nieces....Miranda was warm and welcoming as I checked in and my room was ready early, my nieces joined me later in the day...my room was as I expected, as iI had stayed in it before. Its not my favorite room at the inn, but it has 2 beds for family stays. It still has its charms and I was totally happy with my stay!!!

We went to the adjacent creamery for ice cream in the evening and then proceeded to the back patio to eat out treat and play a board game. The skies suddenly darkened out of nowhere and we were forced to quickly go inside, very bad thunderstorms came through with some extemely black clouds with a tail that looked pretty ominous.......we went through the creamery side door from the patio to avoid getting totally soaked........then Linda of the creamery was nice enough to let us play our games in a little side room between the inn and main body of the creamery (as the living room of the inn was occupied)....she went above and beyond to be friendly and accomodating.....we had a fun evening as did many folks stranded by the storm and hanging out in the creamery. Linda has been totally friendly and pleasant on all my visits to the creamery.

And I would like to mention that in addition to fabulous ice cream with a multitutde of flavors, the creamery offers a nice selection of sandwiches and soups for a light meal.

Room Tip: If your children can do a sofa bed, i think I would opt for one of the suites, but this room was tot...

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences from your recent stay at our Inn. We value our guests' opinions because they not only tell us where we're doing well, but they also tell us in what areas we need improvement.

I'm sorry you experienced some inclement weather during your stay (we have no control over Mother Nature!) but am glad to hear that the employees at our adjoining Country Store & Creamery were able to accommodate your desire for space to play a board game. I will be certain to pass along your great comments about Linda and the other staff there.

It's true that our family rooms don't have all of the amenities of our suites, because they are designed to cater to a mix of adults and children. Nonetheless, we are glad to know that they suited the needs of your stay while traveling with your extended family, and that you still found the room comfortable and clean.

We look forward to your future visit(s) with us and hope you'll have the opportunity then to take advantage of one of our suites!

Thank you again for your comments!

We came to see the Sight and Sound production of Jonah. By the way, it was terrific, and to be with two of my grandkids. We enjoyed it so much. Jody gave us good tips on ice cream from the creamery next door ,restaurants to eat at, and we even took a train ride which was pretty cool. Miranda was so kind and our room was spotless. We had a great two nights and three days. And what is a good recommendation comes from Hannah and Michael who want to come back to see Noah production and stay at the Inn. Thanks for great visit.

Thank you for sharing the experience of your stay with us. We're glad we were able to be helpful with recommendations for activities and eateries. Being a small property (as opposed to a larger hotel) allows us to get to spend time getting to know our guests and helping make their Lancaster County visit a success.

We look forward to having you return to visit us for next year's Noah production at Sight & Sound Theatres, and please tell Hannah that peanut butter ice cream is ALWAYS available at the Creamery as a regular flavor!

Thanks again for your kind words!
