“Lovely stay”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

We had a family gathering in the area this summer and this hotel was a perfect location for us. the restaurant is outstanding!! We had dinner there in a large family group. Everything was excellent. There is patio seating outside if you wish. The breakfast provided at the hotel was nice - plenty of choices and seating.
We did not have time to make use of the pool.
The view is wide open - farmland - in a very pleasant, quiet location.

As it is called "historic"...so it is not all glass and stainless steel. It is cozy, well decorated to the area and time. No elevators...so if older or have lots to tote ask to stay on the 1st floor. The beds has 4 pillows on them, 2 are down, how can a place with 4 pillows on the bed be bad? Pool nice, clean but small. Rooms had irons, coffee maker, hair dryer, flat screen t.v. bath essentials, safe. Lobby has coffee and good breakfast choices every morn. (free)
It was very close to the "sight & sound " theater, which we had tickets.
The Amish people are such good folk and from the Inn you can watch the men in the fields with their horses. So interesting. The Inn is out set, it is not that far to gas and food and markets and pharmacy and tours... The grounds and flowers are well kept.

Room Tip: the A/C was not tip top..we had room 212. And we were there July 4th-...so the nights were hot. Just...

I have traveled many places and understand age, but the worn out, tired, DIRTY room and overall facility was a huge turn off. From the fractious, irritable, argumentative front desk clerk, Leeanne, to the uneven brick walkways, peeling paint, split wood door frames, room doors loose on the hinges, chipped and peeling paint, it was truly an eyesore just walking to our room. Spider webs on the ceilings, an absolutely filthy bathroom with hair, mold and crusty soap in the tub surround made for a disgusting first impression. After arriving to our room #121 we proceeded to clean. There were two dead flies on the bed on the left. The bathroom, as I said, was filthy with not only the above, but toothpaste on the bathroom mirror frame. Nothing matched in the bathroom. The fixtures were all cheap, chipped and didn't function properly. The mirror over the sink was too large for the sink, which was a tiny little thing.

The a/c was struggling, either too cold or too warm. There was no average. It chugged along noisily all night. The beds were lumpy and very uncomfortable. After the two dead flies and the spiders in the room (on our clothes we changed into for the wedding after we hung them in the closet while we cleaned the bathroom) I really have to say this was just about the worst hotel we've ever stayed in.

I still can't believe we had to pay $139.00 + tax for this dump. If we weren't there for a function next door at the Fireside Tavern we would NEVER have stayed in such a disgusting hotel. Truly not worth one dime of your hard-earned money.

Incidentally, the front desk clerk was challenging a guest ahead of me about what his reservation entailed. She was difficult to follow in her reasoning and he was questioning her. That's when she got downright rude. I couldn't believe he was taking it, but he looked exhausted and just wanted the keys to the rooms they rented. Another couple asked her for directions and she first said, "Oh, you've got a long ride ahead of you! You're at LEAST 45 minutes away!" What a thing to say. And this after the wife said to the husband, who seemed to be on his last nerve, "I'm so sorry honey, I didn't realize this hotel was so far from the venue." He replied, "It's ok, there's nothing we can do about it now." They said this quietly but I heard them and the clerk definitely heard them. To preface her directions with reinforcing how FAR they were from where they needed to go for a function was downright MEAN, CLASSLESS and plain IGNORANT.

I not only give this a terrible rating, I really want my money back. We'll see how that goes.

We stayed at this hotel last summer and found it very conveniently located for all that we wanted to do in the area. We are returning in July to stay for 3 nights ( as per the request of our 10 and 4 yr olds) and are looking forward to the awesome breakfasts and the pool!

With so many hotels to choose from it was hard to decide where to stay. Being so close to the Strasburg RR and the reasonable rates were the reasons we chose to stay here. The location is ideal, away from the strip of outlets and hotels you are only a few minutes away from it all. The view from our room was picturesque farmland. Having a hot breakfast included with each night was a bonus. My son loved making waffles, and I found the eggs and home fries to be good. There were also pastries, toast, bagels, and cereal. The room was clean and very well stocked. I can't wait to come back again

We booked one night with our kids. I was glad it was only one night for a couple of reasons. Our bathroom was kinda nasty. They looked as though they had just redone the sinks and floors, which were nice. However, the tub had mold growing in the joints. I cleaned it out again before I put my kids in it (I do that anywhere I go though). The walls and ceiling in the bathroom looked really dirty too. There was also some sort of residue all over the mirror that the housekeeper did not clean off. I also found dried toothpaste on the wall behind the sink. Our air conditioner wasn't really working either. It caused it to be musty and humid in our room. We did call the manager in and he checked it out, but nothing was really done. We just had to keep the fan on all night to get air circulating in the room. However, I have to say that the beds were comfortable, the pool was really nice, and the breakfast in the morning was wonderful. If our bathroom would have been better, I would have given it 5 stars.

Thank you for sharing your experience at our hotel. We apologize that your expectations for a new hotel were not met. We are a quaint historic hotel established in the late 1800's. Our rooms are clean comfortable and quite popular for those who appreciate our heritage. I am the manager and don't recall coming to your room and have no record of your concerns. Our rooms are inspected prior to each arrival. The conditions you describe would not have passed our quality control. We hope that all guests will contact the front desk for any concerns so we may address and resolve. We hope you will return in the future.

We had such a wonderful night at the Inn. It was so peaceful and quiet. Best nights sleep we have had at any hotel. The surroundings are restful and relaxing. We enjoyed sitting on the chairs outside our room that evening. The restaurant next door was wonderful as we didn't have to go back out after a long day of traveling. The complimentary breakfast carried everything we would have had, had we gone out. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.
