“Too short a stay!”
Reviewed August 6, 2014

The Days Inn was the perfect way to spend a day in State College. The staff at the hotel were professional. pleasant and helpful. Since the last time we stayed at Days Inn, the rooms have been remodeled and are beautiful. Our accommodations were very clean and decorated very nicely. The price was affordable. The real appeal of the Days Inn is its proximity to downtown. Within a two minute walk you are right in the heart of State College!

Hotel room was not cleaned by housekeeping staff. Went to front desk at 10 pm to get room clean. Front desk staff implied I was at fault that the room was not cleaned.

I had not been back to the Days Inn since my husband graduated from Penn state in 1992, so I didn't know what to expect after all these years. Upon check in, you couldn't ask for friendlier folks at the desk - check in was a breeze and a pleasure! We were on the fourth floor, and when we entered the room, we were stunned.....in a good way!! Aside from the room being immaculate (a must!), the color scheme, lighting and décor were all done beautifully! My only complaint - and I really find this to be somewhat common - was the mattress. It wasn't the most Uncomfortable bed, but it wasn't the best I'd ever slept in, either.

That being said, please don't let it preclude you from staying here. The hotel is within walking distance of SO MUCH - you can pretty much leave your car during your entire stay. The hotel does offer room service from the attached Mad Mex - this is great for late night munchies, but I would not suggest the breakfast. If you're in State College, check out either Ye Olde College Diner or The Waffle House!

Just a side note about this particular Days Inn: On Nov 1, 1991, my hubs and I got engaged at this very same Days Inn, so it has some nice memories!

From pulling up/parking to departure, exceeded all the basics, and at a reasonable price for a downtown location. Though seemed to have staffing on the younger side, they were very friendly, professional and attentive. Would definitely stay there again.

Thank you for having taken the time to comment on your recent stay with us at the Chairman's Award winning Days Inn Penn State, and your positive comments on our staff. Though young, our staff works very hard to make sure all guests feel at home when they stay with us. Thank you again for the positive comments and five star review! We look forward to your next visit.

I've stayed here now for 20 years for Arts Fest. It's the most centrally located hotel in town, two blocks from the Old Main area of campus and a block from the festival route. So convenient to park for the weekend and just walk. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful; they seem well-trained and attentive to guests. You pay a premium for location and, until this year, the rooms really were dated. For years, they had a display in the lobby of the promised upgrades, but they weren't appearing in my rooms and it was a bit annoying to pay top dollar for worn furnishings that got more worn each year. This year (2014) they FINALLY they finished the updates. I can confirm that the management's pictures on the site look just like my room -- same new bathroom decor, same new wallpaper, same new carpets, etc. All the room furniture is new, and the mattresses and bedding also seemed new. (My wife thinks the only old thing left is the bottle opener on the wall in each room.) It is now a very nicely appointed hotel and fair value. There is no breakfast, but there is coffee in the lobby for guests. It is a two-block walk to Irvings and a block further to the College Diner, so breakfast is close enough. Kudos to the management for the beautiful improvements and for the great staff. Also, there is free wi-fi.

Room Tip: Try to avoid rooms overlooking the Mad Mex bar/restaurant in the summer, there is a lot of noise fro...
