Zola is a double storefront restaurant whose wide-open area makes it much like a loft. The metal ceiling and wood floors result in it being quite noisy when busy. If you are looking for an intimate dinner with easy conversation, this probably is not your best choice. You might try asking for one of the tables near the window which would be better.
The menu is nice, but limited. There were six or so entrees plus a couple of house favorites. There is not much variety, so picky eaters should check the menu in advance. We had a Duck Breast and a Hanger Steak entree and both were very good, as were the Mozzarella & Tomato Sampler and Gorgonzola with Pear Salad we had as starters.
Desserts were a strong point. The French Toast Croissant was especially good.
So long as you know what to expect, this is probably the best restaurant in State College.
