My co-workers and I ate dinner here twice during Career Fair week. We loved the food. The shorter meal took almost 3 hrs. The alcohol menu is not legible due to small print, dim lighting, and reflections off the lamination -- so the restaurant actually provides flashlights. It's also too loud for anyone wearing hearing aids.

Zola is expensive for State College but not unreasonable for cities.

That said, do go -- just allow a lot of time, and consider lunch if dim lighting or noise levels are an issue.

We visit Zola every time we are in town. Our personal favorite is the deep fried whole fish. The presentation of the fish is unbelievable and it is exceeded only by the the fresh, wonderful taste. The wine list is excellent an the house wine is surprisingly good. Our experience with the service has been fine too. So, give Zola a try. I think you will be very, very pleased.

This was an exceptional restaurant. The food, a braised oxtail appetizer and duck breast entree, was truly memorable, perhaps the best duck I have ever had. The service was charming and highly professional - serve from left, take from the right, crumb the table before dessert. Really remarkable these days. The wine list was modest in size but very well selected, something I appreciate in a restaurant. The view on College Street can't be beat. I can't wait to go back and have even booked a table for my next trip to State College.

We just had a great dinner at Zola New World Bistro. The restaurant is nicely decorated. Service is excellent. They have a great team effort to take care of their customers. Very friendly and professional service.
The food was very good. The crab cakes were fantastic. They have a good wine selection with good prices.
Good bar scene too.
They have live music. Don't take a picture of the band with out asking permission because they will rudely scold you....
The dinning experience was still very good.

But I ended up staying three hours, drinking too much wine, and having the most delicious macaroni and cheese I have ever eaten. Gruyere cheese with a bit of black truffle, and you can add foie gras if you like. I liked. It cost $10 but it was worth it. Try not to tip over your wine if you sit at the right end of the bar, there is a ledge there. But if you do tip it over, they cheerfully mop it up and give you more. Pricey, but friendly, and the music is always good.
