“Can't Miss Brunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2012

I have a son at Penn State and we visit often. Have tried many places to eat in State College during all seasons to include football weekend when it is very crowded everywhere. If you want a consistent quality breakfast or brunch try "The Corner Room"! Always plenty of fresh quality food with many choices. Very busy with a wait on Football weekends but try it other times if possible. Won't disappoint. "Meet you at "The Corner"

“Very good service & good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2012

We visited with our two young children on a Friday night of a football weekend. The place was very busy, but our server was terrific and very attentive. The food was also very good and the prices were extermely reasonable.

“Classic State College/Penn State University dining experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2012

Check out the sign by the front entrance to The Corner Room -- "Since 1926" -- and you'll learn a lot of what you need to know about this wonderful State College restaurant. The Corner Room is situated at the symbolic heart of State College -- the corner of College and Allen Streets, right across from the stone gates that emblematically welcome one to Penn State University's campus. In other words, the restaurant is right where State College (the town) and University Park (the Penn State campus) meet. The decor, both inside and out, is dominated, appropriately, by blue and white (Penn State colors); the walls are adorned with a diverting array of old photographs and newspaper articles that take one back to past times in the history of State College and Penn State. The servers are overwhelmingly Penn State students; their youthfulness and good cheer are heartening, and give one faith that the future will be better than the past or the present. Additionally, it is fun and interesting to contemplate that Penn State students have been waiting tables here for 86 years. The food is hearty and flavorful, and the prices are very reasonable -- appropriate for a college town where many people, including but not only students, are living on limited budgets. The last time we were there, my wife had the Thai Salad with yellowfin tuna and enjoyed it thoroughly. I had the Rocky Top Bison Burger; it was big and juicy, and the chipotle mayonnaise gave it a nice extra kick. If you're there at dinnertime, get the fish-and-chips with a Yuengling draft beer; if you still have room for dessert after all that, enjoy the peanut-butter-and-chocolate milk shake. Yet I also recommend that you visit The Corner Room in the morning; get a seat by the big picture windows on Allen Street if you can, and then, when you're done with your breakfast, sip your coffee and watch the students and professors and townspeople walk by as State College and Penn State start a new day. It's a vista of academic life that Corner Room customers have been able to enjoy for the past 86 years, and no doubt will continue to enjoy for the *next* 86 years.

“Yummy hot breakfast!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2012

It was a football weekend and the place was packed. Despite the long line, we were seated quickly. I dislike buffets and orderd an omelet form the menu. It was HOT the potatoes were HOT and the toast was even HOT! The rest of the family got the buffet which was not piping hot but was plentiful. I would stick with ordering from the menu. Service was great. Place was clean. Will go back again.

“"Old School Charm"”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2012

The Corner Room is a throwback; part of the fabric and tradition of Penn State. "Meet me at the Corner," represents a location that's central to town, well known to everyone and a place to converge for a meal at virtually any time of the day. This is no gourmet, high brow restaurant. It is, however, a place that delivers consistently good, traditional food, with the occasional twist or variation on a theme. With its wood trim, booths by the window to people watch, friendly staff (several have been there for over 20 years!), and comfortable, down-to-earth atmosphere - you'll feel like you've stepped back in time. One part breakfast place (superb!); another part lunch counter with great soups, sandwiches and burgers(milkshakes are awesome!), a homestyle dinner spot, complete with a series of "blue-plate specials" (now THAT's old school) and a place to go late night. The food is always good, consistent and a great value. It's the kind of place that lines up on football weekends for breakfast, because it's simply part of the routine; and it consistently delivers meal after meal, time after time. There's some sprucing that could be done, but then again, like an antique with the perfect patina - let it continue to age gracefully. The Corner Room is an American classic.
