“Insanely Expensive Penn State Graduation Hotel”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

The hotel itself is not bad. It was clean and the rooms were okay although the beds are not the most comfortable in the world. The free breakfast was very basic but does the trip. It is in a great location for PSU based activities. However, the price for graduation weekend was absolutely insane. I realize that there is price gouging and obviously there a lot of people in the area who NEED a room for graduation weekend, but $500+ for an extremely basic hotel is absolutely insane. The value does not even come remotely close to what you get.

A very nice stay all around. The hotel is located only a couple miles outside of downtown State College. The staff was very friendly upon check-in and check-out. The room and bed were very comfortable. Your standard breakfast fare each morning. For the price, I don't know that it can be beat. There is a brew pub right next door if you are looking for something to eat. Easy to drive to a Wegman's, Trader Joe's and a bunch of other restaurants and stores. Will definitely be my stop over when I am back in State College.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Fairfield Inn in State College. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the hotel is. They have a very welcoming lobby with a fireplace, comfy seating, and an area for breakfast. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The rooms were very nice although not as quiet as if you stayed in a full sized Marriott. The free breakfast included eggs, bacon, waffles, yogurt, bagels and pastries. This is much more than offered at some hotels at the same price point. I highly recommend that you consider staying at the Fairfield Inn if you are visiting State College.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room, ask for a room away from the elevators.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn when we were in town for a family funeral. The staff was helpful, the rooms were clean, and quiet, and they let us check in early. Free Wall Street Journals to read while we had our breakfast morning were a great touch. There's a Trader Joe's down the street and a Chick Fila across the street. Otto's next door is a great pub, too.

For the past 4 years, the Fairfield Inn has been my "go to" hotel for visits to Penn State. The hotel is a little off the beaten path, but it is new, and clean and has free breakfast and wi-fi. I have stayed in the 1 bedroom suite (very nice), A KING room and a standard double. The staff is friendly and willing to help. It does get quite crowded during Penn State athletic games and sometimes runs out of food at the breakfast buffet. My only complaint is that they do practice price gouging during graduation weekend and football weekends charging over $500 in some cases for a single night when at other times the same room is $99. For loyal Marriott customers this is unacceptable and now when my daughter graduates I will be staying at the Quality Inn.!!!!

We stayed here for Penn State family weekend. Like every hotel in the area, the prices are jacked up to beyond reasonable. Rooms here are average..nothing special. Breakfast is good...I'll fitting lids for the to-go coffee caused a hot coffee spill on someone wearing shorts. The staff seemed unconcerned about it...Overall, not a bad place.

Great place to stay football weekends.Super clean, quiet. They free breakfast in the am is actually good. And its right next to Otto's microbrewery, so you can come back from the game, park, and go right next door, avoiding the craziness of town.
