“will stay again”
Reviewed August 20, 2009

I have stayed at the Comfort suites previously, but not in about 2 years. My recent stay was to bring my daughter back to school at Penn State, and the hotel I have stayed at tthe last few times was booked up. The comfort Suites did not let me down, and I will probably go back to booking here when I return. The room is huge and clean, the bathroom was very clean (a really important point with me). Unfortunately, they do not have WiFi, but I think you can borrow an ethernet cable. Breakfast was bland but very plentiful - not your continental breakfast here! Only issue was the seating for breakfast - definitely not enough. The pool looked good, but was very busy with families - workout room was ample. In all, the hotel actually seemed beter than the last times I stayed here. and the prices are good - you can get a better deal, but they certainly don't gouge you at this hotel, and the large space and cleanliness was worth it.

We come to State College once a summer for my husband to attend work seminars. This was the first year we tried the Comfort Suites, and I already have it booked for next year. The staff is friendly and helped me with directions to parks, shopping, etc. The pool is clean, yet on the chilly side, but most hotel pools are in my opinion. I used the exercise room that is well-equiped and clean. Like other reviewers said, the breakfast is above average, with 3 cereals, oatmeal packets, fruit, yogurt, milk, 2 juices, bagels, make-your-own waffles, and each day there's one special item, like egg and sausage patties or biscuits with sausage gravy. Our room was nice, a little dated though (you could just tell the bathroom hadn't been remodeled in awhile, but still clean). For the price, you can't beat having the kitchenette and staff that actually cares about you. We had a problem the first night we were there, internet was down, but by the next day it was up, but yes it was slow our whole stay. There are bus stops just down on Atherton St if you need to go downtown or anywhere else. Highly recommend Faccia Luna restaurant on S. Atherton. This hotel is close to Walmart, Target, Kohls, and the Nittany Mall is abotu 10 minutes. Definitely go downtown and walk around all the little shops, and go to the Creamery on campus for ice cream.

This Comfort Suite is located on the edge of the Penn State University campus in State College, PA. If you're traveling I-80, it is about 11 miles south of the interstate in the central part of the state.

The hotel is clean and comfortable with an indoor pool and nicely appointed lobby. There is no restaurant on site, but a continental breakfast is served until 9:30 each day. Other dining options are close by. There is a TGI Friday's literally down the hill at the end of the parking area. Across the street and to the left of Friday's you'll find an interesting Korean restaurant.

Overall, we were pleased with the room. The only caveat concerns the bath tub. It appears that the tub in our room was "remodeled" with a unit that was placed over the top of the old tub. Nothing wrong with that, except that the new tub had a much higher edge. You have to step quite high to get in and out of the tub. This might be an issue for seniors or those with limited mobility. I don't know if this was peculiar to our room, or if all tubs were modified in this fashion.

Stayed here for 4 nights while our son attended wrestling camp at Penn State. The front desk staff was very professional and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The wireless internet seemed slow at times. The pool was nice although it seemed small, and the jacuzzi was wonderful. The breakfast is much better than a typical continental breakfast. The best part would have to be the waffle irons. There were also other choices which varied day to day: buscuits and gravy, sausage, hard boiled or scrambled eggs, as well as the pastries, muffins, bananas, etc. It's also very close to T.G.I.Friday's. If we ever visit State College again (which I hope we do, it's a beautiful area) we would stay here again.

We stayed at this property for one night, Sat 3/28/09. Able to walk to Penn State campus (a hike, but doable), ample parking on site. Excellent AAA rate of 89.99 for a room which included two double beds, small living room area with sofa and coffee table, microwave, fridge, sink. Bathroom clean and spacious. Whole property seemed newer, clean, and well-kept. Free breakfast served 6 am - 9:30 am included cold cereal, waffles with choices of toppings, danishes and muffins, bagels and muffins, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, and juices. Even my 13-year-old son, a picky eater with food allergies, found enough to eat and the staff was very helpful. Pool is not huge and can imagine it might get crowded on a football weekend but well-maintained, lots of towels and very clean. Enjoyed the hot tub immensely.
Would recommend this property in a heartbeat, and would stay there again if at Penn State. Also, if a member of UPromise, book online through UPromise website and receive 3% back into your college savings account!

Stayed at this property for 2 nights. The front desk staff are excellent, very helpful and friendly. The room size was more than adequate for the 2 of us. We had a room with 2 queen beds, it also had a sofa sleeper. The room was clean and kept clean by friendly staff.
The complimentary breakfast was just adequate, ti was sufficient and was included in the price but not as good as some other properties we have used.
The beds were comfortable.
My complaints were that the water when showering in the morning was only warm, it was better than cold, it was warm. The walls of the room are a bit thin so that you can hear your neighbors.
Would we stay here again, yes, it was close to the things that we wanted to see or do at State College and the staff more than made up for the few deficiencies.

This was the third year that seven of us hunters stayed here for opening day of hunting. From the cordial staff to the clean and comfortable rooms to the whirlpool and the wonderful breakfasts, it is a great place to stay. A special touch was the hotel's kind response in having breakfast ready at 5am one morning (instead of their usual 6:30am) to accommodate the early morning opening day hunting. Very kind. Would highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in the State College, PA area. Looking forward to next year already!!!!!
