“Great stay”
Reviewed August 9, 2010

My wife and I needed a weekend get-away and found the Limestone Inn B&B online. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a relaxing place to stay. Very nice house and property, delicious breakfast, and friendly service. We were able to come and go as we pleased which made it feel like a home away from home. I thought the rates were reasonable, and the location is off the beaten path, yet just a very short drive into town. We hope to stay here again in the future when we are back in the area.

We stayed at four B&B's in the State College area during this trip. All were lovely and this is not an attempt to compare them in any way.
Karen is a professional through and through and attends to every detail just beautifully! But most important, among all of the quality touches and attention that we enjoyed during our two nights, is that never did it feel forced or overdone - relaxation is easily found at this gem of an inn.
The only thing we regret is that we did not schedule another night or two! There are many amenities: the quiet, breezy and nicely appointed back porch, the sunroom sitting area, the comfortable movie room (w/ ample supply of classic movies), and even a steady supply of home-baked cookies under the bell jar in the kitchen. And one note about breakfasts: There is nowhere better as far as I know... Karen makes sure that each meal has a special gourmet quality that starts the day off with a smash - you'll go away feeling well fed and very well treated!
The location is also excellent. Minutes from town, minutes from several State Parks, rolling farmland and the gorgeous valleys of Centre county.
All four of our trip hosts were great and all accommodations were wonderful. The Limestone Inn would certainly be one I would nominate if there were any sort of national list of "not-to be-missed" B&Bs!

We had a really delightful stay at the Limestone and a wonderful time in State College. It is really close to downtown, but it feels like it's in another world. Our room was beautiful and we especially liked the toile wall treatment. Everything was clean and tidy, and breakfast was really delicious. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

vAs an alumni of PSU, this is not the first time I had stayed at the Limestone Inn, although it had been seven years since the last time. My son was attending sports camp at PSU and we needed to come two weekends in a row to drop him off and pick him up. The Limestone Inn was PERFECT for us. It's not too far from the campus but not right on top of it. The surroundings are very serene and the back porch is a wonderful place to just soak it all in. The first night we spent, there was an amazing lightning storm and we just sat on the porch and watched the lightning streak horizontally across the sky. I've never seen anything quite like it. The back yard is expansive and includes a little stream that runs through it.

Karen, the innkeeper, is extremely gracious and welcoming. She made sure we had access to everything we needed and then mostly faded away so it really felt like we were at home. However, she joined us for breakfast (at our request) for some spirited discussions. Speaking of breakfast, I can't comment highly enough on the quality and quantity. We stayed two nights (over two weekends) and we were served apple-cinnamon pancakes the first time and breakfast "cups" filled with eggs, ham and a kind of hollandaise sauce the second time. Both were to-die-for and I cleaned my plate each time even though I'm not normally a breakfast eater and the portions were huge. There was also fresh fruit and fresh-baked muffins. And I personally was grateful for the little details like flavored coffee creamer. You just don't get that kind of experience at a hotel.

Because it was July in Happy Valley, it was hot but the inn was perfectly comfortable and the beds (we had two different rooms) were also just right, not to hard or too soft. The inn itself is historic and beautifully apportioned, which as antique-lovers we appreciated. We had two teenage boys with us, and they were so happy to have wireless access. There were plenty of other things to do but we did not have time to take advantage of everything.

Finally the cost was extremely reasonable, and compared to other options around Penn State, a great value.

I would highly recommend the Limestone Inn to anyone and plan on staying there again the next time we return.
