A great place for fine dining in State College. The dining room was very inviting and comfortable. Old school. Service was excellent and personable. Menu had many old standards and some inventive ones. Prices were reasonable given the food and location. Only negative is you have to park in a nearby campus parking garage and schlep over to the Inn, about 5 minutes walk. Very good.

We went there for a celebration graduation dinner for our two children. We had been dining there for over 25 years and the food and service were top notch.....not anymore! They certainly took advantage of the large crowds at gradution and offerred a subpar buffet and a limited menu that was prix fix at $65.00. That seemed riduculously overpriced for less than 1 cup of lobster bisque, tomatoe & mozzarella salad, chicken.....yes chicken with 4 tiny "macaroni & cheese" ravioli's and a chocolate/peanut brittle dessert that was half the size of normal desserts. Some had the buffet which included 4 meats (overdone prime rib) (tasteless chipotle chicken shreds) paper thin pork with pineapple sauce and a mixed seafood grill. Only 1 starch was offerred and that was red potatoes with virtually no seasoning. Not impressed at all with this visit and the service has declined as well. Our server actually charged us $45.00 over the wine list price for a bottle of cabernet and didn't seem at all concerned when we pointed the error out. If you want AMAZING go to the Carnegie House and another spot that doesn't dissapoint is the Tavern.

DH and I have stayed many times at the Nittany Lion Inn. We like it because of its on campus location as well as one of our favorite places to dine/snack/drink at Whisker's. We were in State College during the Blue-White Game weekend which also was Alumni Council and several special events dinners. We were assigned room 2102 which was recently renovated. The water pressure was a little funky and it was a little noisy since it was near housekeeping. Whisker's was perfect for lunch one afternoon and again for drinks after a special event on Saturday night. I wish that the rates weren't so high during special event weekends.

Food is really good! The lobster bisque was like a meal on its' own! Nice service. The decor is a bit outdated, but that didn't deter me. They have a nice bar called Whiskers attached as well for after-dinner drinks!
