There were many choices of Amish restaurants in our recent travels, and we were delighted that we chose this one! The family style suited us fine; we met a lovely couple that we visited with about the area. The food was phenomenal! We're from the south and still it was some of the best fried chicken we have ever had! The mashed potatoes, browned butter noodles, chicken salad, super tender roast beef--oh my mouth waters just remembering it! Homemade bread and butter were a superlative addition. And to finish it off were a selection of desserts that couldn't be beaten, especially the homemade ice cream and shoo fly pie! Wow! Our son also really enjoyed the small playground and petting zoo outside. TERRIFIC stop on our travels!

As long as you're ok with "Family style" dining in that you may be placed at a table with strangers to fill a table you won't be disappointed by the food or service. Very friendly staff and food is always top notch. Make sure to try the cracker pudding! MMmm

I've had weight loss surgery which makes me ineligible to eat at any buffet. Just can't eat that much food any more. But this restaurant has family dining, in which you take what you can eat at communal tables...or you can order off the menu and take back what you couldn't eat for a later snack. Perfect. The menu option is just right for me and you don't even miss the good desserts as they are included. The food is all prepared from scratch and you get to sit in the old house portion of the property if you like! I've eaten here many times...even prior to losing all the weight...and it's great simple Amish food. It still has a bit of the home cooked quality which a lot of the other restaurants in the area in modern times have forsaken. Big bakery and deli and souvenir shop, too (more recent additions). It's still a great place to eat.

At $22 per person for one piece of fried chicken, some mashed potatoes and a quarter slice of ham this was an overpriced meal. "Family style" means one bowl of each item for a table of 12: if you want to eat something, you have to ask all the other guests to it pass it all the way down the long table. Why not place at least two bowls of food on each table? And why is fried chicken and ham with mashed potatoes typical of Lancaster county? You can find it anywhere in the US. Fighting over scraps of food with bus loads of people is not pleasant. The food is average, not special in any way. No variety. Even the lemonade is watered down. Not that good and not as plentiful as the name would have you believe. Very disappointing.

We hadn't eaten here in a long while and were happy to see it open on a Sunday during low-season. The restaurant wasn't crowded and service was fast. The food was plentiful (constantly refilling family-style service) and quite tasty. We could hardly budge when we finished our shoo-fly and apple pie at the end of the meal. Oh, and really good ice-cream. Chocolate pudding wasn't bad either! Perhaps we over-did it, but that's the idea. Several meat dishes, lots of vegetables, mashed potates, iced tea and lemonade. Sat at a communal table next to a very nice, interesting couple. A great 90 minutes.
