I wanted to surprise my wife with a weekend away and she loves the mountains. The reviews here seemed to say that this was either a great or a horrible hotel. But it looked so nice, so I gave it a shot.
If I could set the record straight, it is just a perfect place. At least it was for us.
We got there in the rain on Friday night and the rain continued through Saturday. We didn't care. The lodge, the room, the scenery (yes even in the drizzle,) the pub, the food, the music, the dancing, the staff, everything about this place was just magical.
Just writing that made me remember how much I enjoyed the meals there and I am a vegetarian (picky eater.) My wife is not and we were both delighted by the Windsor Room.
Sunday was checkout, sadly, but checkout is at 1:00 PM, the sun was out and it was a perfect fall day to enjoy strolling a tiny piece of the 5500 acres of beauty.
Maybe those people who hated this place stepped into the Twilight Zone and went somewhere else, but this was one of the nicer places we have been.
I want to try it in each season! We can't wait to go back.More
