“Rude customer service”
Reviewed June 29, 2012

I was looking for a nice B&B in Pocono and found the Countryside Retreat at the Sheradin's on the Web. Looking at the reviews I noticed one about rude customer service but chose to ignore it and booked 2 nights in July. The next morning I changed my plans for the trip so I replied to the booking confirmation email canceling the reservation and requesting confirmation for the credit card reservation. A few hours went by so I called to make sure they got my email and that the booking was cancelled. Ron answered the phone and rather rudely replied that he does not know why I was able to book the rooms since they were fully booked and that the email was sent to confirm it. When I said that I called because I didn't get the email, he once again rudely said "then check your email again" and hang up. I was so surprised that I called back asking why was he so rude, only to receive even more rude and angry response.
I am amazed that this place is even open if this is the customer service they provide. I am glad I changed my mind to go somewhere else!

If you are looking for peace and serenity, this is the perfect place. The lake is beautiful as well as the grounds. Both Ron and Alla were warm, helpful and are very interesting and accomplished folks. It's worth the stay just to meet them---AND their friendly dog, a vizsla, who was so gentle and affectionate that we enjoyed him as much as any other aspect of this lovely retreat.

The breakfasts were outstanding in quantity and quality, with pleasant music in the background and sweet aromas throughout the house--not just in the dining room.

We stayed in the Emerald Isle suite and found it very comfortable. We would definitely go back.
Highly recommend this lovely place!

We stayed for a couple days, and had a very relaxing time at very lovely property. Ron was very helpful about things to do, and the breakfast was great. I would go back.

We stayed in the Emerald Isle Suite, the room was very warm, cozy and inviting. It was beautifully decorated, had wonderful amenities from books to curl up and read to fresh popped popcorn while watching a movie in our room. The Inn offers a variety of activities to enjoy (paddle boat rides on their private pond, fishing, relaxing in the outdoor hot tub, bike riding and our personal favorite - rocking away in the hammock. The owners (Ron & Alla) were very welcoming, friendly and quite helpful in pointing us to local attractions and places to eat. They reserved a romantic evening for us at a restaurant where we had the absolute best filet mignon ever! We felt right at home from the moment we stepped through the door. The breakfast at the Sheridan's was incredible. Alla is a fantastic cook, she made the best breakfasts of any we have ever had anywhere else. Every morning you will wake to find a vast array of enjoyable foods to start your day. We solidly recommend this facility to anyone who wishes to relax in the pocono area at a very affordable rate !! + Thanks Ron and Alla !!+

We look forward to seeing you again........Take care
Tracy & Matt

Location is remote in a nice setting, but there are a lot of other options in the Poconos that would offer better service. I have stayed at several B&B's and have never experienced something quite as bad as this. Alla was very friendly, but Ron was extremely rude to us for a mistake he made in putting us in the wrong room. We had no idea, and he notified us the next day acting as if it was our fault. I have never been treated so rudely and unprofessionally by any host. The room he moved us into the next day was so tiny, very cold, and with their personal belongings (packages and gift boxes) stashed away underneath the bed. The "private" bathroom they advertise on their site is not private at all, but across the hall and barely large enough to fit one person. They should really take this false advertising off of their site as I noticed another guest review mentioned the same thing. To make matters worse, he also was not helpful when we would ask for hiking suggestions, it's almost like we were bothering him.

It's very unfortunate, as the location seemed nice, but we were anxious to leave the next day. My suggestion is to have Alla deal with the guests if they want return customers.

We stayed for a 3 day weekend. Sheradins was centrally located to everything we wanted to do. Ron and Alla were very gracious hosts and the breakfasts were delicious. Alla even shared her recipe of the delicious breakfast caserole we had. We stayed in the Emerald room which was beautifully decorated with a nice fireplace. We had our own private bath with a jacuzzi tub. We would wake in the morning and watch the sunrise from our bed all the while smelling the tantalizing aromas of the apple crisp baking for breakfast . What a lovely way to be awaken. Ron and Alla took their guests on a hayride and than had a large bonfire alongside the lake. Ron is also a pilot and will take you for a plane ride if you want to. Another guest did and said it was a great experience. Ron did give us a tour of his airplane hangar and told us of his plans for expanding his facility.

The location was so peaceful. We could swing in the large hammock under the trees or just stroll around the lake. They also offered a sail boat, paddle boat, or canoe if we wanted to have a little recreation on the lake. I'm sure it's a lot of fun in the summertime also being able to swim in the lake. There were bikes if we wanted to ride around (which we didn't), but they were there. They also have an outside hot tub for anyone's use.

It was a great place to stay, Ron and Alla were fantastic and we can't wait to come back again. The next time, we plan on spending a lot more time just relaxing at Sheradin's.

This place is located in a very picturesque setting, with a still water lake adjoining the property on one side and a open ground with the owners airport on the other side.
They have a hot tub and a few boats(paddle and row boats for the guest's use). They have bicycles that the owners were willing to let the guests use. There are several beautiful outdoor spaces for the guests to hang around and enjoy the peace and quiet.
This B&B per the owners is about 10 months old. They seem to have about five rooms, with one particular suite Nautical Blue suite which has a private entrance and a private deck.
We stayed in the Aviators room. The room is small, well decorated, but really small that we could not find places to open up our baggage. Its really the low end of the price range among all the rooms, hence its okay. We were disappointed that this suite does not have an attached bathroom. And the bathroom though private is located in the hallway across the room, and it seemed everyone has to pass thru the same hallway to go out or into their rooms. And the bathroom seems to have evolved from a Coat closet, it is so small, that there is not enough room even to stand or use the sink/shower properly without hitting the walls. Another big disappointment was that this bath room only has a shower, I wish that was clearly mentioned in their website.
I am sure other rooms are not this small, and they do seem to have attached bathrooms.
The bed was comfy, and the linens clean. But the trash baskets in the bedroom were not emptied and carried the trash from the previous guests. The carpets seemed vacuumed, but seemed somewhat dirty, but it could be because this is an old house which the owners painstakingly restored and the owners own a pet dog.
The owners however are nice, quite friendly and helpful. It was just a one night stay, and we could not stay for breakfast, so could not taste their delicious breakfast nor participate in their evening Wine and tea hours.
Its a beautiful place to stay, and enjoy all the outdoors, but if you'd like to stay in the Aviators room we stayed in, it may not be a good idea for couples who are looking for more privacy with the hallway bath situation.
