We by-passed this on our first attempt--a hot summer afternoon with a lot of people sitting outside waiting and a 6 PM closing coming up fast. Fortunately, we tried again on Friday night, arriving a bit earlier and a much shorter wait. The service here is great--I was particularly entranced with our server who had an unusual name (Katurah), beguiling smile, and pleasant way... it seemed ironic to have great service with what is basically a self-service buffet. This is not meant to be exquisite dining--it's a meat and potatoes kind of thing and a great opportunity to try a number of different dishes. If you leave hungry, it's your own fault.
In spite of being busy, we didn[t feel rushed and there was adequate time to sample a good selection of dishes... deserts are definitely worth saving room for... this was among the best peanut butter pie I've ever had.
It is pretty much seen as "the place" to eat for basic PA Dutch food and deserves the good reputation it seems to have. One negative is the limited hours... Weeknights they close at 6 PM, Friday night at 8 PM--not sure about Saturday. Weekday meals would require an early arrival.
