“A "Must Do" for the food and experience...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2012

We by-passed this on our first attempt--a hot summer afternoon with a lot of people sitting outside waiting and a 6 PM closing coming up fast. Fortunately, we tried again on Friday night, arriving a bit earlier and a much shorter wait. The service here is great--I was particularly entranced with our server who had an unusual name (Katurah), beguiling smile, and pleasant way... it seemed ironic to have great service with what is basically a self-service buffet. This is not meant to be exquisite dining--it's a meat and potatoes kind of thing and a great opportunity to try a number of different dishes. If you leave hungry, it's your own fault.

In spite of being busy, we didn[t feel rushed and there was adequate time to sample a good selection of dishes... deserts are definitely worth saving room for... this was among the best peanut butter pie I've ever had.

It is pretty much seen as "the place" to eat for basic PA Dutch food and deserves the good reputation it seems to have. One negative is the limited hours... Weeknights they close at 6 PM, Friday night at 8 PM--not sure about Saturday. Weekday meals would require an early arrival.

“Good Selection of Pennsylvania Dutch Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2012

We were only going to be in Lancaster for a very short period. After some research, we decided to try Dienners and I'm glad we did. I had read some cons about doing the family style dinners, so that was why we also decided on this restaurant. You are seated as you normally are and just go up to the buffet to get what you want I wanted a flavor of Pennsylvania Dutch country cooking and we certainly got that. We both liked the chicken pot pie and chicken corn soup a lot. I liked the small red beets and fresh white corn. Desserts were plentiful but it did not have the shoo fly pie I was hoping to try (the waitress said they do not compete with the shoo fly pie offered at the Dutch Haven which was right next door). We also enjoyed the apple butter. It was a very good choice for us.

“Where the locals eat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2012

This restaurant is not fancy but if you're looking for good Amish food, this is the place! We got the buffet at senior prices! The food was hot and delicious. The desserts were plentiful and really, really good! Always try to eat at Dienner's when we go to Lancaster County, PA.
