“Not as Reviewed”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

I have stayed in many motel/hotels in the Lancaster area for the last 20 years. Eastbrook Inn is located in a convenient location but is not as wonderful as depicted in other reviews. I am usually very generous in my reviews, as well as being honest. There is no way this hotel should be given Excellent Reviews. It is totally misleading to those looking for a nice place to stay in the Lancaster area. I will say the hotel was clean but very dated. An ironing board and iron hanging on the wall is not found in excellent hotels...there were not enough electrical outlets, bathroom very small, a ceiling fan removed was shabbily covered up in the ceiling, hallways dark, and lobby tacky. You could hear the guests on the upper level walking around in the middle of the night. They do offer a continental breakfast; I only had the coffee which was in fact very good. If you should still decide to stay here be sure and call the hotel directly for a reservation. If you usually book your traveling through a third party such as Expedia, Hotwire, etc. you will be charged directly by the owner an $8.50 fee to cover your online reservation at checkout. I had never heard of this before as I have never been charged by any other motel/hotel I have booked with on Expedia until now. I checked with Expedia once I returned home and they informed me they do not charge any online reservation fee so I put a call in to the hotel. I had read this also happened to another guest and she insisted on a refund and got it. I left my name and number for a return call. It was never returned. If you advertise a nightly rate with a third party a good business person should honor that rate. If I had used a mini bar or other services (which were not offered at this place) I would assume I would pay more then the posted nightly rate. If Eastbrook Inn chooses to advertise/list their facility with a third party THEY should be the one paying for the service, not the guest searching for a hotel.

Room Tip: ask for the second floor so you don't have to hear the people above you

My sister and I love to shop and visit Lancaster every year. We frequently drive up and down Eastbrook Road to get between the outlet area and Bird-in-hand. It was so convenient to be right in the middle and have easy access to every one of our daily destinations. The motel is ten minutes from Strasburg railroad, up the road from the Sight and Sound Theater and across the street from a 24 hour waffle house!! Everything was clean and quiet and you can't beat the price.

Room Tip: ask for a room not facing route 30, some trucks use gears to slow down and the noise from them can...

This is our second visit to Eastbrook. Upon check-in we received a nice welcome from the owner. Our room was upstairs just east of the stairway and facing the back. The room was clean and comfortable with a 32 inch Samsung LCD TV. There were several lamps and a clock radio in the room. The AC and heat worked well. While there are pictures over the beds, the lack of any other decoration in the room makes it look kind of bare. There is a refrigerator which appeared to be relatively new and worked well. If the room needed anything, it is more AC outlets. If you travel with gadgets as I do, bring your own extension cord. The hotel has WiFi with three nodes. We connected to the one with the strongest signal, but transfer rate was just okay. The connection dropped periodically. It might have been due to atmospheric conditions as there were thunderstorms passing through the area.

The bathroom in the room is definitely dated. Judging by the vanity, I would put it in the 1950s or early 1960s. It is a small counter-top which annoyed my wife. In addition, the Formica laminate was separating from the wood. The floors have been refinished in vinyl which had some gouges in it. Nothing major. The showers appear to have been refurbished with a plastic all in one unit. I had trouble figuring out the hot water control and the showerhead whistled.

There was a continental breakfast available daily and the owner kept a very close eye on everything. The coffee was always fresh and he restocked items as needed. There is a juice machine, regular and decaf coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cereals, bananas, Maple Donuts (a name brand and big in PA) as well as bagels, muffins and toast. I might have missed an item or two, but there should be something for everyone. There is also a TV in the breakfast room for TV junkies.

Considering the daily room rate and the care that the owner shows, you can't get a better deal in Lancaster county.

This hotel is good enough for the money and the staff are very nice and real helpful. Some of the other reviews are correct that things are a bit basic, but you are paying much less than at the hotels nearby. Location is perfect for your Amish-themed stay.

We recently stayed at the Eastbrook Inn after searching for a modestly priced hotel with an excellent rating in the Strasburg area. My son and his wife and grandson, as well as my wife and I secured two rooms at the Inn thanks to Mr. Patel. He as well as others on his staff were most cordial and responsive to our requests at this last minute. The Inn was VERY comfortable and the continental breakfast for all very satisfying. We actually stumbled into a great place to stay for our THOMAS the TRAIN venture and will highly recommend others to quickly make arrangements if are visiting the area. Thanks Mr. Patel and staff for a most pleasurable experience.

Spent a few weekends around the area and found this Motel which is centrally located on a quiet street backing up to a farm, Reasonable rates, clean comfortable rooms, have return three times now and still a good place to stay.

Room Tip: book early , rooms fill up quickly

My husband and I were traveling to Lancaster and chose to stay at the Eastbrook Inn for the first time. Definitely a good bargain but we missed not having a microwave in the room. One thing to consider is the traffic noise that begins at 4:30 am on weekdays. Bring earplugs! Also don't leave notes for the housekeeping staff as they don't understand English. (I was told this by the front desk person.) However if overall it is a good place to stay price-wise.
