“Consistently the Best”
Reviewed November 5, 2013

My husband and I have been enjoying the Villa Richard since the late 70s when we celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary. Since then it has become the "go to" place to de-stress, celebrate occasions with family and friends, or just a night out to enjoy a fabulous meal. We have never been disappointed. His lamb chops and lobsters are the subject of many conversations with friends when we urge them to try the place. It is a whole evening experience. No one even hints at rushing you through any of the courses. Also, the atmosphere, service, and the presentation of the meals are impeccable. And as for entertainment, I recommend one of Richard's jokes. It's worth the trip from anywhere.

“Unique Dining experience”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

If you are looking for a unique dining experience look no further, this is the place. You will not be disappointed. The Villa Richard will take you back in time when eating a meal out was something special. It is a small but magnificent Bed and Breakfast Inn filled with many beautiful antiques and history. Diners are greeted personally by the owner, Richard while his son, Dean serves up an excellent drink at the bar. The menu offers something for everyone. The portions are generous, the food is excellent, and the service is impeccable. And, if you are lucky Richard will offer to share some wonderful stories to delight your visit.

“Unique and Outstanding”
Reviewed July 27, 2013

This is a review that is long overdue. I have taken my friends, family, and co-workers to the Villa Richard for at least the past 8 years, probably longer. It has remained consistent the entire time. It is truly a unique dinning experience. Upon arrival, you are greeted by Richard the owner. He has run the restaurant and B&B since the 1960s. He is a charming man, classically dressed in a tuxedo. He is funny and gracious. The B&B is a Victorian mansion that dates back to the late 1800s. It has housed the likes of Thomas Edison, Merv Griffin, Larry Holmes, Henry Ford, Teddy Roosevelt and many other famous celebrities and dignitaries. It is a breathtaking home in perfect condition, full with beautiful oil paintings, and a roaring fireplace. You will feel like you stepped back in time. The food is incredible and always consistent. You can have lobster tails, fillet mignon (topped many different ways), veal oscar or veal topped with crab meat, salmon. What ever you get it is always wonderful. Everything is served on fine china. Appetizers to start. A relish dish before the dinner. Sherbet in between courses to cleanse the pallet. And then there are the wonderful desserts. On my first venture there, I swore I was going to curse the bill. I thought this place just has to be very expensive. I was shocked to see it was no more expensive then any other restaurant around. So, although it makes the perfect special occasion place, it really can and should be your ANY occasion place!

“Intriguing”
Reviewed March 9, 2013 via mobile

Very good food, we stayed the night in one of the rooms upstairs (the Rose room) in order to absorb the entire mansion experience. Very glad we did... This is not your run of the mill place! You can feel the history in its old architecture. Intriguing and unique experience to say the least! Sir Richard and his son, bartender Dean, were very hospitable. We will never forget our trip here.

“A Culinary Adventure”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

Friends asked if we wanted to go on a culinary adventure to Villa Richard and we immediately replied "YES". We had heard of Villa Richard and neither couple had been. On Friday, March 1st, we ventured out and were immediately 'wow'd' when we walked in the front door. A step back in time! Greeted by Richard, himself, we exchanged pleasantries and headed to the bar for a pre-dinner cocktail. Never rushed, we took out time and eventually even ordered our dinner at the bar before we made our way to our table. It was so much fun! And the food! Very plentiful, with complimentary hors d'oeuvres and then we went for the full experience. Appetizer, salad, entree and dessert. Everything was prepared with care and the service was amazing. They look after you very well. I had Bananas Foster, of which they prepared tableside. And did I mention, we were never rushed? We love that, especially when we are out with good friends and want to truly enjoy the evening. We will definitely go back to Villa Richard. And have a look around, the house is gorgeous!
