“5 Years and We Still Can't Wait to Go Back!”
Reviewed July 1, 2014

It was our fifth season and it keeps getting better and better. Family owned and operated, MSL is a gem hidden in the woods.

Having stayed in most types of cabins available around the lake (33, 62, 63, 34, 37) we decided to repeat number 63. This is one of the better cabins on the property. Since this was our fifth trip we have everything down to a science. We know what to bring, we know what to expect, we know that we're in for a few days of relaxation.

Check in is fairly simple and once you get your key you are free to be with nature. The accommodations are basic but clean. They only supply bed linens, towels, and kitchen amenities (cups, plates, flatware) The rest is up to you. Dont forget your coffee filters.

We use this weekend every year as a retreat to get away from the every day turmoils of life. We sit and fish, Cook dinner, and simply relax and let the world slip away for a few days.

There are a few places that I have been to that can allow such simple behavior. MSL has become our favorite place in the world and we have been to a lot of places. The grounds are vast giving you tons of space to walk jog or just get lost. and the lake is a nice size to go fishing for the day.

If you're looking for 5 start accommodations, to be pampered with service, or anything glamorous, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a few days of absolute silence, nature overload - this is the place for you.

A few notes:
- Bring everything you think you might need. Even coffee filters.
- Be sure to bring a fishing rod. The lake has a lot to offer.
- It's worth renting the little motor for the rowboat even for one day.
- There is a grocery store 15 minutes from the property so leave that shopping for the date of your arrival. not worth packing your car with all that stuff.

Room Tip: Cabins 62, 63, 64 are the nicest on the lake.

Our second stay in #23 at MSL (May 29 - June 2, 2014) was even more pleasant than the first (May 30 - June 3, 2013), but if you aren't a nature lover or if your travel style is fancy, upscale, etc., look elsewhere. As always, do your homework before and after choosing to stay here--we bring bathroom hand soap, shampoo, etc., happily do without Internet access in the cabin/apartment, allow time to broom clean the place before the 10:00 A.M. check-out, for example. A note: finding Mountain Springs Drive can be tricky for first-timers, and the building across the road that served as our landmark last year is now Bart's Bar and Grill (formerly, La Vina).

We went for a weekend to attend a wedding on the resort. We stayed in cabin #22, second floor of a "cabin". Clean but very small. The bathroom was tiny, I am short and had difficulty in the shower. The wedding area was very nice and I understand that some of the cabins are very nice. The staff was nice. It was too cold to enjoy the lake.

My husband and I stayed in Cabin #7 while there for a wedding. The cabin was very musty smelling! The shower was so small. The bedding was gross! We were afraid we'd get bedbugs!! I will NEVER go again. The price so was outrageous!!! They need to lower the price ALOT!! We had to clean up b4 we left, take out the trash, leave the place the way it was when we got there. Like seriously, we had to make our beds.

Room Tip: do not stay in cabin #7, horrible

This Resort is such a sweet place. Our son and his fiancé chose this location for their wedding and we couldn't have been happier with the outcome. Accommodations were super with all family and friends who stayed in the cabins VERY happy. The reception facility is beautiful, ALL the staff so pleasant, accommodating, and helpful. Food was delicious and presented in a lovely manner. Thank you MSL for making this an unforgettable weekend!

We stayed in cottage 32 for three nights for our anniverssary. The cottage was perfect.
The only downside was that the facilities at the resort were not open. Almost all the roads inside the resort were closed till the weekend. So the money we spent was not worth it. They could reduce the prices / let guests know of this in advance.

I recently stayed in Cabin #32, Cottage Suite and it was nothing short of amazing! Cabin is brand new updated with all amenities (gas fireplace, king size bed, jacuzzi, etc.). The grounds are beautiful and this cabin is secluded, nestled right in the woods. Check-in and out was easy breezy and the owners are very nice and helpful. If you looking to get away for a romantic night or for a couple of days, do not hesitate to book your stay here. Loved it and will most definitely be back to this resort!
