For a dated hotel you could muse about all the things this hotel is not. However, the one thing you realize is that this hotel is clean, comfortable and friendly. Priced right, we had a wonderful experience and a great nights rest! The staff is excellent and the Tavern was friendly and not overpriced! I certinally would return!

Was in Reading for a family wedding reception. The Abraham Lincoln offers a good central location for a stay in the city. Parking and Wifi were free. The lobby and dining area has an old-time "grand hotel" feel, with it's marble floors and wide spaces. The desk staff is friendly and attentive. We stayed in a king suite, which was very spacious and clean. Most of the room amenities, such as the TV and microwave, seemed to date from the 1990's. The shower was clean but the showerhead was very loose and had to be directed by hand in order to do it's job, very inconvenient.

The hotel offers a breakfast buffet for $10.95 per person in the mezzanine area, which is also home to Melody's Tavern, a full-service bar with a refined atmosphere.

Overall, a fine choice for accommodations if in Reading.

For value it was OK, downstairs quite smart, though room was less so. rating it poor though because fire alarm went off and it was literally like the Titanic, firemen upstairs on 9th or 10th floor and the orchestra playing on the ground,

though a light flashed no alarm sounded, only the lift not arriving prompted me to phone reception - they were not much help, since I had to get down i took the stair fire exit from the 16th knowing in all likelyhood the fire was in a floor below and as the sign said once you commit the only way out is on the ground floor. Once I was on the stairs I could smell the smoke below and met a fireman on the 9th or 10th floor. Had it been more severe fire you could easily be trapped on the stairwell,

Even on the ground floor you could not exit with out setting off an alarm so eventually I got out on the 2nd when a kitchen assistant unlocled the door and let me out through the kitchen.
