Tonight was my first time eating at Panevino even though it has been open one year. The freshly made foccacia bread that came with our meal was delicious as was the tortellini in vodka sauce. However, the Caesar salad was saturated in too much dressing that was extremely heavy with anchovy paste - to the point that it stung my mouth with each bite. I had high hopes for the tiramisu but was disappointed. It was too soggy and had no coffee flavor at all. Other than that the restaurant has a really nice atmosphere even if it is a little pricey and the service was great.

We had a lovely dinner at this fine Italian Restaurant. Wait staff was very attentive and helpful. We enjoyed the special which included two movie tickets to either the movie at the GoggleWorks or at the IMAC Theatre. It was a great evening.

This was a pleasant surprise. Food, service and wine were all very good. The menu selection is quite large, and daily specials seem interesting. All of our dinners were tasty, and very well prepared. For a more quiet dining experience, as to be seated on the "dining" side of the restaurant. the TVs on the "bar" side can intrude a bit on a meal - though they are certainly appropriate for that part of the restaurant. Panevino also offers a nice, "date night" package that includes dinner and movie tickets for area theaters. We will be back.

My husband and I went to Panevino tonight. We started at the bar and had really good martini's before we were seated. This is when it all went down hill. A server came to the table and got us the wine menu. We chose a bottle of wine which was very nice. We both commented that our server never gave us her name. When she came back to our table my husband asked her her name. We started with the foie gras and carpaccio. Our server brought us bread and an amuse bouche which consisted of a piece of tuna with very undercooked green beans and an sauce. The bread was served and we were to be careful with the olive oil container because the lid did not fit right. Ok, so we had to hold the lid on so we could pour some oil onto our plate. A little tacky.
Our ap's arrived and we both were very dissatisfied. My carpaccio was so thin and almost frozen that it had very little flavor. The foie gras was so small in comparison to the caramelized figs that you could not even taste it.
Our dinner arrived, Osso Bucco. It was served over a saffron risotto which was very undercooked and the Osso Bucco was lacking in flavor. We were very disappointed. The chef came out of the kitchen and seemed to be "brown nosing certain patrons. Particularly the wine room. Wow!!! We use to go to the Chat a While for dinner and were always impressed with the experience. Tonight we felt that the wait staff and kitchen were below par. The lay out and decor were very tacky and our server was on her knees much of the night putting wine glasses away. I said to my husband that they should have wine glass holders up high which would make it easier. I can say that we will not be back. There are not many restaurants in our area that can begin to compete with other areas near us. Allentown, Phoenixville, etc all have restaurants that far surpass anything we have in Reading. David Brenner needs to see that food is only part of the equation when it comes to fine dinning in Reading.
