Plantation Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #2 of 5 Punxsutawney B&B and Inns
Reviewed July 4, 2011

My husband and I just returned from my high school reunion and this B&B is the former childhood home of a classmate! Beautiful grounds, the rooms are beautiful and comfortable. Julie is very gracios but does not return communications in a timely manner. Also, breakfast is at one time - period - even though I paid for breakfast both mornings, my husband and I had to leave earlier than the 9 o'clock breakfast. Most B&B owners will provide breakfast at the convenience of the guests - that's good business. We didn't leave at 4:30 in the morning.....we left at 7:30 a.m.! There is a nice cofee station on the second floor - very nice - We would stay again - but will all details/prices worked out before payment.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed beautiful and well appointed.

Julie is THE best!! My family has been staying at the Plantation nearly every Thanksgiving for several years and I WILL NOT stay anywhere else when I visit Punxsy. Breakfast is always wonderful. She always asks what time we would like it served and she is always accomodating. The house is always clean and the beds are very comfy. It is an old house that has been added on to and remodeled over the years so it's full of character and charm. It does creak and make old house noises and depending on which room you get the bathrooms can be a little tight. It's all part of the charm of staying in a B&B. Yes, it is close to a busy road so if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs. Don't miss the upstairs library or the outdoor garden and labyrinth!

Room Tip: Tell Julie what you need, she will fix you up

This was my first stay at a B&B and it was everything I imagined. It was what I imagined an English B&B would be like. The grounds were beautiful. The atmosphere was quaint and serene. The hostess (Julia) was charming and accomodating. Our breakfast was delicious! The fireplace in the parlor was great! Our room (we had the Australian room) was clean, comfortable and had a terrific view of the fall foliage. We plan on coming back.

We wanted to experience the groundhog day celebration in Punxsutawney, PA and chose the Plantation Bed and Breakfast as our place to lodge. We are so happy that we did. This B&B was the best that we had ever stayed in. We instantly felt at home as we entered this dwelling. The owner, Julie, has such a sweet and gentle spirit that is matched by none! She definitely went the "extra mile" to ensure our experience was grand. Julie provided excellent resources for us to fully enjoy our groundhog day event.

Each bedroom is decorated with a different theme. We felt as if we stepped back in time as we walked into our "Victorian" room with its meticulously placed antiques and furnishings. A woman cannot help but feel like a princess when you crawl into the poster bed with the lace that adorns it.

The food was fabulous, especially the blueberry pancakes.

We made new friends as we visited with the other guests in front of the fireplace in the parlor. We definitely recommend this establishment and want to return for a visit ourselves sometime in the future.

We stayed at The Plantation this year on our trip into town for GroundHog's Day. We come in for the festival every year and stay at the Plantation Bed and Breakfast in Punxsutawney.

Every year you can count on meeting new people and sitting for hours in a stretch in front of the fire, the hostess always sets it up so you can enjoy the fire with tea and coffee present, and other wonderful snacks too. Breakfast is sure to never be missed, her blueberry pancakes made with her own blueberries she grows in the garden in the summer are to die for. Lightly crisped from the butter and the fluffiest you will ever have. And the scrambled eggs are so perfect, not to mention the French Toast, that perfect cofee, and the tea! Wow. If you happen to do high tea while you are there you will be in for a culinary oddysey that is out of this world, cakes, pies, shrimp, sandwiches, all amazing.

The rooms themselves are the most comfortable you will ever sleep in, the beds are perfect, so soft. And quiet, never hear a noise when we are there, quiet as the grave there. All tastefully decorated with unique touches, and occasional groundhog pieces here and there.

Julie runs an amazing inn, and will give you advice on places to eat, see, things to do in the region, all in all, one of the best B&B's I have ever stayed in.

We stayed in the African room for 1 night on a trip to Punxsutawney. The room was very nice, but the house is very close to a busy road, take earplugs for a restful night . Also the blinds let in the light, which would be a problem in the summer. The breakfast we had , had clearly been sitting there for sometime, so was not the best. Julie was friendly and the house is beautiful, especially the fire in the guest lounge. Free access to a laptop and internet were very handy. All in all I would recommend The Plantation.

A very charming old house with an equally charming hostess! We stayed here as a nicer option than the town motel. Each room has its own theme, such as, The English Room, The African Room, American Colonial, etc. There is even an additional "lodge" on the property.
Coffee, tea, cocoa is available 24/7 and each room has a flat screen with DishTV. We were not able to take advantage of breakfast during our stay but have read nothing but nice things.
We are looking forward to staying again and taking advantage of all of things that the Plantation has to offer.
