“Great restaurant and the owners are terrific!”

This restaurant is a gem and the owners go out of their way to make you feel at home. The building is beautiful. Fun place with great food. Very inventive. If you are in Pottsville, you must try this place.

“Unique! Love this place.”
Reviewed July 30, 2011

Have eaten here more than 25x and I keep coming back. This is not in my backyard but my 1 hour drive is worth it. The total package. Food is very good but the atmosphere is what I really enjoy. Menu has updates with a surprise here and there. Owners try as hard as any to make this place FUN!
I look forward to the decorations that change with the season.
Not a drinker but the bar area always has laughter and a crowd that appears to be having a GREAT time.
Please don't underestimate the food because I expect very good food from the places I visit.
I really enjoy the TOTAL package at the Greystone!!
THANKS

“Sorely disappointed.”
Reviewed May 17, 2011

Ate here one time about 2 years ago. Had very tasty fried green tomato with crab appetizer, the entree was a pasta dish with creamy sauce that included pumpkin seeds which were a major crunchy turn off, toasted pine nuts would have been a better choice for my taste. Returned tonight intending on getting the lobster tail special dinner advertised in the local paper for several weeks, including this week. Was informed by the server that 'the owner and the manager were away for a few weeks' and 'the ad should not have been in the paper' and the cook guessed that lobster is too expensive right now. We Ordered the crab hushpuppy appetizer and the appetizer scallops with beet salad, the black bean soup, and a romaine salad with roquefort dressing. Waitress was aware those were in place of an entree. Received the hushpuppies (6 of them) to be served with a sauce and jalapeño jam. The 2 scallops with beets were tasty, but the crab hushpuppies were inedible. Rather than being crisp on the outside and light on the inside, they were horribly dry and literally tough. When our waitress was asked if they were normally that dry, she said yes, then lectured us about how hushpuppies are cornmeal and 'like cornbread' rather than return them to the kitchen for the chef to try. Waited a long time for our soup which turned out to be like plain bean soup just made with black beans, no southwestern flavors at all. Waited another 15 minutes after finishing the soup for the salad which turned out to be a grilled hunk of romaine with some red onion shreds and some cherry tomatoes, but the super strong grilled taste overpowered every other flavor and made me keep looking for a burger or some steak on the salad. I might mention that, at 7:30 in the evening, there was one party of 6 people at a table and two of us at another. Otherwise the dining room was empty. We entered at 7:30 and did not finish our food until nearly 9:15... Almost 2 hours to get appetizers, ready made soup, and a salad??? Dessert was tasty, thankfully, and we debated about even chancing it, but at nearly $80 that was expensive for only good dessert from the meal. Very disappointing evening for what was to be a celebration. If you are going to go 'upscale' with 'chef inspired' cuisine and charge $ 25 plus for an entree in Pottsville and $12 for some really bad hushpuppies with some shredded lettuce under them and absent 'jam', you are in trouble. For those prices, you need to be on the ball and the food should be exceptional. This was not.

“delicious”
Reviewed April 11, 2011

The only upscale restuauant n the Pottsville area. Great food, drinks and atmosphere. The only thing I don't like is that some of the clients do not know how to dress. Jeans and a t-shirt seem out of place here. When the food is this sophisticated and pricey dress for the occasion!

“This is hands down the best restaurant AND bar in Pottsville.”
Reviewed October 19, 2010

The service is excellent, the food is amazing, and the place is just fantastic. From the pre-depression era bar to the beautiful and quiet downstairs dining room to the constantly changing local art it is a can't miss place. The happy hour specials are creative and fun, if you can't get there that early the dinner menu is modern and varied with classics like southern fried chicken and modern fusion asian of udon noodles with scallops. Finally, the late night scene in the bar can't be beat. Any review of this restaurant would also be incomplete if it did not mention that the owners are fantastic, community oriented people who always make the customers feel welcome and valued.
