Leila and Mia made our stay extra special. All of the staff was courteous and efficient and friendly. We are definately coming back! The food was great. Leila remembered our drink order before we sat down every day, even though the hotel was completely booked,

The poconos are full of old 1960 themed hotels right out of Dirty Dancing, sort of the Catskills west. Over the years my wife and I have tried many of them sometimes feeling like we were camping more than staying in a hotel. We would take time to visit nearby hotels for comparison. I found the Pocono manor while looking for a Golf course. Built in 1902 the hotel has old world charm but also has been well maintained with all the modern conveniences. Elevators, Wifi, Indoor pool, Outdoor pool, very comfortable luxurious beds and linens. A great golf course, horseback riding, shooting range, fishing and close to Camelback and right down the block from the new Kalahari Water park. Buffet dinners and breakfast, nice bar and lounge. We were pleasantly surprised considering the age of the hotel. But if you want a nice safe bet that won't break the bank, you can't go wrong with Pocono Manor.

Very old building, pictures you see on-line seams to be photoshop-ed, very dark & gloomy place. You can see the leak stains all over the ceilings, dirty carpets, lousy water pressure, noisy pipes & ac, very thin walls. One night we got very rowdy people next door, couldn't sleep until 2 am. I wouldn't consider this place kids friendly, either. For $200 per night on a holiday weekend it's a rip off.

My husband and I was very pleased. If u like the early American style furniture u will be surely in your element. Everyone was very accommodating. Too name a few Alex and Courtney. Overall a little cosmetic is needed on the buildings.

Room Tip: Something for everyone to do

We were spending the night before a race and having never stayed in an "old" Pocono resort we decided to give it a shot, the price seemed reasonable. First off I'm not sure if it was just us or what but when we asked Google Nav to take us here it took us down a road that ended in a dirt road about 1/4 mile before the actual resort. Once we doubled back and asked at the golf course we found it easily.

The golf course is absolutely spectacular, it's too bad we don't golf or we would have definitely given it a go. The area very much has an old school feel, the homes around the property are very old and very beautiful. This is going to sound like a criticism but it really isn't, the first thought I had when we arrived was of the Overlook from The Shining. Parking was plentiful and easy when we pulled in, the front desk staff was very quick and we were off to our room. Again looking in the formal dining room, the elevators and the old wide hallways all gave me the Shining feeling again. I purposely didn't tell my wife this since she had never seen the move and she gets creeped out easily. As I said this isn't a criticism, I realize this place was built from when the hotel from the movie was too but it was funny how it had that feeling to me.

Our room was exactly what we expected, it looked just like the photos and we had a great view. The one big problem we had with the room was that even though the A/C was blasting when we arrived it was 82 in the room. The hallway was actually quite comfortable so I'm not sure what the deal was. The A/C was pumping out cold air but it just couldn't bring the temperature down. We noticed as we walked down the halls that quite a few of the vacant rooms had their doors open so I'm not sure if that was done by housekeeping showing a room was vacant or if that was how they were trying to cool them until a guest arrived. Either way it was really odd that they could cool many massive hallways but not one small room.

We looked around the immediate grounds and the pool area looked very nice but we decided to explore further out. We didn't come back to the room until about 10pm that night and the temperature had gone down to 78F, thanfully it was a chilly night so we opened the window (no screen BTW) and brought the temperature down the old fashioned way. When we arrived back at the hotel there was party of some sort going on in the ballroom and the once plentiful parking had compeletly disppeared. We had to park in an auxilarrly lot up the hill from the main resort in an unlighted area, that was a bit off putting but not the end of the world. We were on the 4th floor and we could clearly hear the music coming from the party which would have been a problem but it ended at 11pm so it was no big deal.

We slept in so we missed breakfast but I'm sure it would have been good based on the menu we saw. All in all it is a unique place and I wouldn't mind trying it out again if we were in the area and wanted to explore some more.

Thank you for this wonderful review. You are not the first to reference that movie, and you would be absolutely correct, our architecture and build for both hotels were from the same era. Many of our guests find Pocono Manor's warm history more inviting then the movie hotel. :-) We do thank you for your honest feedback and will be sharing your review with housekeeping and engineering team to address the same issues you mentioned. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back to Pocono manor. Be sure to check out our events page as we do have some exciting happenings on the horizon.
