“Cooper's is definitely in need of a chef.”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

Lunch today was revolting. You would think a top notch seafood restaurant could have burgers that aren't frozen flat patty's. No fresh meat. The seafood is probably frozen-warmed and served. There is no pride there. I think any fast food burgers are better. And the fish? Fried, chewy, clam strips, fresh out of the hot oil dripping everywhere. The broiled fish was chewy also, not even cooked nicely. Fresh Crabcake? Not identifiable, stuffed with bread maybe? Definite grocery store item. Maryland Crab Soup tasted like ground peppers. My grandson wanted a cheeseburger, he got a pressed burger with no cheese. The waiter took it back and I suppose put on a piece of cheese and slapped it in the microwave and reserved. The fish was fishey and chewy. The chef and owner should be ashamed to serve expensive food that can be purchased from a grocery store. So dissatisfied. $60.00 bill for lunch. I wrote on the back of the slip-ending it with we will not be dining here again. Expensive lesson..

“Coopers is going downhill”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

When in Scranton we usually have dinner at least one night at Coopers either in Pittston or downtown Scranton. During our earlier visits Coopers was one of our favorite restaurants and we were always very pleased with our meals but the last several times we had dinner at Coopers we were highly dissatisfied, so much so that we probably will never have dinner at Coopers again. On this last visit which was at the Coopers in Pittston I had the seafood combination which included oysters and scallops. The oysters were cooked with so much batter that all you could taste was the greasy bland batter. The scallops, also covered with a thick layer of greasy batter, were just as bad. This is the kind of food you would expect in a redneck rural diner, not in a high priced upscale city restaurant specializing in seafood. Others in my party also were not too pleased with their selections. On the plus side we were very pleased with our waitress who was very attentive and friendly and we always enjoy looking at the many interesting pictures decorating the walls. Coopers also has a good selection of draft beers.

“Not a place to eat”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

What a shame to say but this is not a place to eat. the service is awful as well wait staff are totally appathetic. Beer selection is good though and they get good live entertainment so if you want to party eat first then go.
