Room was clean with excellent shower. Front desk staff was welcoming and friendly. Free coffee and newspaper. Stayed here for a night before a conference held at another local hotel at Pittsburgh airport because it was one fourth the price. If I come back to Pittsburgh I'll be sure to stay here for my entire stay even if it means a little extra driving.

I travel to Pittsburgh 6-8 times a year and usually stay at this Red Roof. It is convenient to the "South Hills" and there are many stores and restaurants within 5 minutes of this location.

I appreciate the fact that Red Roof allows pets at no extra charge. We found the room comfortable (superior king non-smoking), although the toilet/shower room was extremely small. The shower has a curved rod, which made for plenty of elbow room in the shower, but the toilet was crowded if you hung your towel over the rod to dry.

The TV offerings were terrible - although they do offer two HBO channels. The TV did have a sleep timer, thank goodness. We were on the ground floor and were awakened by our upstairs neighbor "entertaining" three nights in a row. If you are upstairs, be assured that whoever is downstairs can hear everything you are doing, including peeing.

I felt the price was right BUT even though we were booked for a period of seven days, they charged our card five days into our stay. A friendly woman at the front desk left us a message - but after the fact. When we went to the front desk, she explained that they have to check you out and check you back in every five days. We asked to extend our stay through the end of the following week but then found ourselves locked out due to the fact we had been checked out again. A different woman at the front desk was in no way friendly about it, either, demanding identification which was indeed locked in the room.

Unlike other extended stay places which only offer housekeeping one a week, or every three days, Red Roof cleaned our room (including vacuuming) every day, which I also very much appreciated, since we had our dog with us. Their rates fluctuate during your extended stay, but it appeared they offer you the lowest rate possible if you are a weekly + visitor.

Overall, a decent experience.

It's practically impossible to make a left turn out of the hotel (which shares a parking lot with Denny's, and extends to a bank and a McDonald's). The traffic in that area is very, very thick at 5PM due to all of the restaurants, a mall and other shopping.
