I read lots of negative reviews about this hotel but i gotta tell ya i didnt see it! we got a wonderful deal from travel zoo paid 99.00 per night for a hotel in the city and were very impressed by it. Seems that they are in the middle of alot of new renovations overall in the hotel so if that is a problem then go somewhere else but i would rather deal with construction knowing that the hotel is updating then getting stuck at a travel lodge from the 70's. No issues at check in-no waiting and no rude representatives to the hotel. Our room was very spacious and recently updated with a "spa" feel. I read negatives about the bathroom door...really!? Get over yourselves. yes the door is a pocket slide door with FROSTED windows that you are unable to see in. If that stops you from going here then got the the above mentioned 70's hotel! Of course parking is extra...find me a city hotel that doesnt valet or make you pay for parking. If that is an issue a block down the street is a public lot-go in after 7pm and leave by 8am and its 7.00 or all day is 13.00 still beats the 23.00 valet service per day.We didnt try any of the eateries but we didnt have any complaints about our stay and i would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice place to stay.

Visited Pittsburgh for a week for an event at the convention center. Unfortunately the hotels closer to the convention center were full, so this is as close as I could get. The Wyndham Grand is formerly the Hilton, built in the late 1950s, and it has an illustrious history. It's basically the last building at the west end of the peninsula before the park, Fort Pitt and the confluence of the rivers. It was a bit if a haul up to the convention center (about a 15 minute walk), but it's actually a nice, slightly removed location. Market Square is right around the corner and it was a fairly short walk over the bridge to PNC Park to watch the Pirates. It's very close to the theater district as well.

The hotel is continuing to be under renovation, although the entrance seems like it's gotten a lot better than it was in previous reviews. The lobby level seems complete, and very nice. Had room service one night, and ate in the restaurant another evening, and both meals were very good. The staff was always friendly and helpful.

Being an older hotel, the rooms are fairly small. The renovation of the rooms clearly wasn't done well. The glass doors on the shower wouldn't stay on the track, and the handles were loose. The shower wasn't tiled properly, so the water builds up, plus, you can tell from the mildew on the grout that it is a nightmare to clean. Speaking of cleaning, housekeeping at this hotel needs improvement. Surfaces were clearly not wiped down thoroughly. The fitted sheet on the bed was not on correctly, and I'm pretty sure my linens were not changed after three days as advertised. No big deals, but things that will need to be corrected for the Wyndham to compete with the other hotels downtown in the same price range.

Seems like they are making strides though, so I would be interested in returning should I need to stay in Pittsburgh again.

We loved this hotel! They are completing renos however it did not interfere with our stay at all.
We booked a city view, as we were on a budget, however were very surprised and grateful to be given a high floor waterview! It was beautiful. Our room was modern and clean.
We were also given access to the Sky Lounge when we requested it at check-in.
It was a lounge that is open for breakfast and evening h'orderves.
It was great because they offered snacks and drinks. Spirits and Wine are for a minimal price, along with an amazing view. We were happy to offer a tip to the one attendant in the lounge as we were blown away with what was offered.
Valet parking was not available the first night due to our late arrival and the fact the Pirates were playing that evening. So we Self parked for $20 a couple blocks away.
The following day we used the valet parking for $28. There were no issues with parking or the car for our entire stay.
One of the best perks with this hotel is they offer a hotel shuttle to anywhere you like within a 3 mile radius and offer a pickup service as well. We went EVERYWHERE! It was great! This allowed tourist to really do much more within the city, without the hassle of navigating to an unknown site and also parking. Saved on gas and parking so I was more than happy to tip the driver generously!
Our room was clean and modern. The bed linen was clean, fresh and comfortable.
Overall the only downfall of the hotel is the lack of a swimming pool and onsite spa, however the service, member lounge and shuttle are A+.

This hotel underwent a recent renovation. Craftsmanship in our room was poor with electric outlets not fitted properly, loose floor tile, and a bathroom door that would not lock. Bathroom door was made of semi transparent glass. Stylish, but not great for a family. Hotel has policy to CHARGE $50 as deposit on incidentals which resulted in a hold on our checking account 3 days after checkout. Hotel blamed our bank, but of course the bank would not have placed hold had our card not been charged by the hotel.

The Wyndham Grand has the worst front desk service ever. Rude, incompetent, wait for hours, heard constant customer complaints at the front desk, constantly charged incorrect room accounts and could not figure out why. Good location. Rooms OK and food OK. But would not stay again for the rude and incompetent management who seemed completely vacant and in the dark when dealing with customer feedback.

Room Tip: Ask for river view.

We picked the Wyndham because of its location to PNC Park. It is a 15 minute walk which is perfect. But it is also a short walk to Incline Railway up to the Mount Washington area which gives you spectacular views of the city. It is currently doing some renovations which did not hamper our stay in anyway. Our room was clean with very nice views, the staff was friendly and the price was reasonable. Only complaint was the bar area at night get crowded which make getting service somewhat difficult.

Easy to drive to and close to PNC Park. Had great view of old Ft. Duquensne from the room. Only double beds, no queens, but that wasn't a big deal. The valet garage was full, so we were directed to a nearby public parking garage. We only had luggage for one night, so not a negative, and probably saved some money too. Room was clean, a bit small and had all we needed. Service was good; check-in was smooth & quick.
