Okay, it's not a bar; in fact it's BYOB. And maybe it's not everybody that knows your name, but chances are, if you live in the nearby communities, you're going to see familiar faces. It's usually not a "one and done," people tend to become regulars. Sarafino's is sort of a throwback to the old days of local mom and pop eateries - small, friendly and great food! The menu's a bit limited, with a mix of pizza, pannini's, salads and pasta dishes with a twist. There are daily specials that are always good, including the crab cakes - which are superb. Their greens and beans (or beans and greens!) are the best around. Service is great - friendly and fun, and they hustle! Admittedly, due to its size, it can get pretty loud...well, downright LOUD at times. That's actually a testament to the fun people have when they go to Sarafino's - some wine, some great food, comfortable atmosphere...just like a big family dinner. If you're in the Crafton area, a stop for a meal at Sarafino's is a must. Bring a bottle (or two) and a big appetite and be prepared to join in on the fun and enjoy a great meal!

A great family restaurant in the Crafton neighborhood. It's small - seats only about 50 people - so getting a seat on the weekend can be a wait. Great food but a limited menu. They have a webpage with the menu but they always have nightly specials to expand the selection. I had mussels marinara and it was excellent. Big portions too so consider sharing if you are a light eater. Prices are very reasonable considering the quality and quantity of the food you will be served. It's hard to find this place so look for Wolbert auto body and you'll find Sarafina's across the street. A real gem in the rough. No alcohol but you can bring your own wine for a $5.00 corkage fee so you'll save some money there. Pizza is thin crust but tasty. If you live nearby and like Italian food, you gotta try this place.

Very out-of-the-way in relation to the trendy areas of Pittsburgh, but what a meal! Had pasta w/ the roasted red pepper sauce and meatballs, and as good as the meatballs were I could have drank a gallon of the sauce. Not overpowering, but perfectly balanced with a little cream. Simply the best sauce I have ever had. If I lived in the area, I'd eat there weekly. My brother lives in Crafton, which is the neighborhood this place is in, so it's very convenient during visits to him. The bread is fantastic, as is the red sauce they serve with it. Large portions and reasonable prices. If this place were in the Strip District or Shadyside, it would probably the most popular restaurant in Pittsburgh. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. Take your own bottle of wine and a couple will leave very happy and with a bill under $50.

In visiting Pittsburgh, we knew we had to visit an old-school Italian restaurant. Sarafino's fit the bill perfectly and provided us with a wonderful experience! The staff and facilities are great, but it is the food that makes it shine! We loved the piping hot homemade bread and olive oil dip and our side salad appetizer. However, we were blown away by the Rita pasta dish, which is their signature dish. I highly recommend it! If you are looking for authentic Italian home-cooking, try Sarafino's!
