Was at hotel because the sports team my son played with was staying there. I read my tripadvisor before hand so i was not terribly disappointed because i was expecting it. It is a hotel in desprate need of upgrading .. it just seemed old and tired, however the front desk personell were very helpful and the place was clean .. very clean .. which is more important to me than fancy ... so it was an okay place to stay.. the connection to Panera Bread is great but we love Panera Bread. I guess it was within walking distance of campus but it is in a dingy part of town .. of course the whole town is dingey .. we went downtown after hours and it reminded me of Gotham City from Batman. We did get pointed to Carson St in the South end, you have to cross a bridge to get to it ... it did have a shopping/bar district you could walk .. but again, dingey .. i won't be making a trip to Pittsburg on purpose again.. only if i have to

Room Tip: We were on the 7th floor and rooms were very good size.

This facility is near the UMPC hospitals, McGee's Woman's hospital is just up the street.
They will give you discounted rate if your stay involves a hospital visit.

Facility could use an update but for our purpose it was more than OK. Rooms appeared to be clean, bathroom dated but clean.
Flat screen tv, free wi fi.

Front desk staff was helpful.
There is a Panera Bread on site and many local pizza type places deliver.

The only friendly people working in this hotel are the cleaning staff. The front desk personnel are downright rude and unfriendly. I came to Pittsburgh to visit an ailing friend who lay in bed in a nearby hospital. To then be rudely greeted by the hotel each time I made a modest request for some kind of help made for a miserable visit. Stay away from this hotel.

Room Tip: Stay at another hotel...

Old, dumpy, out dated by 25 years, but the service was friendly and it was pretty clean. Highlights: Panera on ground level, excellent and free WiFi and free parking. If money is a concern this will do but overall avoid if you can. Ask for high floor to avoid highway noise.

We booked online a little too close to our trip. We really wanted a room as close to UPMC as we could get since we were visiting some friends. The front desk staff was super accommodating about our cancelled flights and extra delays getting checked in. When we arrived at 3am, there was a loud throng of drunk guys in the lobby being managed by the nice security guard. The front desk lady (Kim) was very nice and put us up on the 7th floor (key access only) and we had a very quiet room. No breakfast is included but Panera is right inside the hotel. The water pressure in the shower in our 7th floor room was a heavy trickle at best and the decor of everything was a little outdated but the room was large and the bed was comfortable. Our 2nd morning, we asked about the shuttle and even though it normally runs on the hour, the nice shuttle driver agreed to take us right after she got back from her 10am run. So accommodating! Everyone was very nice and the service left me feeling like I would stay here again if there are no rooms in a closer hotel to our friends.

Room Tip: Ask for the 7th floor if you want a quiet room.

This hotel, all though centrally placed in Pittsburgh, was a bit of a disappointment. I had a lot of traffic noise outside my window as the hotel is close to some heavily used roads. Also the hotel clearly is over its peak in terms of quality of the rooms. The best I can say about it is that it is in a good location with regards to some of the hospitals and the university and the price was low.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room away from the highway.

This hotel is located near to several hospitals, and is also within walking distance of Southside Works/ Southside. The value is incredible compared with Downtown and Southside hotels. There is a Panera attached which is incredibly convenient. Our only issue is that the website we booked on advertised a refrigerator and we were given a room without one. We immediately addressed it with the front desk and were moved to the correct room on the 7th floor. It seems the website had it wrong, but they honored it. The decor is a little dated, but that is why you are paying less. Some people might be concerned about the neighborhood, but we weren't. We walked to Southside Works and felt safe, though it is a little secluded by topography. We took a cab back for less than $10, mostly because we don't think walking back late after bar hopping is a good idea.

Room Tip: rooms on the 7th floor have a special key for extra security, plus have refrigerators, microwaves, a...
